Sanctioning Barbarity: American Academy of Pediatrics and the New York Times

Sanctioning Barbarity: American Academy of Pediatrics and the New York Times
Like the AMA's support of Obamacare when its own members were against it, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is guilty of failing to use both good judgement and common sense in its support for female clitorectomies by recommending ritual nicks in hopes of keeping the parents from having it done elsewhere. Unfortunately, this was almost predictable as an unintended consequence of the liberal-progressive-socialist Democrat's worship of the gods of multiculturalism and political correctness. The American culture finds the mutilation of the female genitalia, a practice limited to the Islamic culture, to be extremely offensive and it is against the law. It has no medical purpose and its religious purpose under shari'ah law is to ensure and enforce the subjugation of women to men. Unfortunately the liberal timidity toward confronting those tenants of Islam that are abhorrent to the West means that shari'ah law, based on the tenacity of its believers alone, will continue to make inroads in the West.

The pedantic observance of political correctness prevents liberals from halting the advance of shari'ah law because the only way it can be stopped is by calling it the abomination that it truly is. A law that allows for the beating of women is not a law. A law that allows for "honor" killings is not a law. A law that promotes the murder of those who do not believe in Islam is not a law. A law that demands the killing of anyone who leaves the religion is not a law. A law that promotes the clitoral mutilation of a girl child to ensure that she doesn't become promiscuous is not a law. A law that allows these things is not a law but is proof of a perverse, barbaric, 9th century, warlord mindset. The failure to address these issues because multiculturalism demands that we respect other cultures is just plain stupid. And those that argue for multiculturalism to the detriment of our own society and culture shouldn't really be allowed out of the house without adult supervision. It is not a matter of telling immigrants that they should forget where they came from for that should never be done. But we must demand that immigrants remember where they are. If their culture is what they want, then they must be encourage to go back to where their culture exists for they have no place here at our table.

The American Academy of Pediatrics, in their support of a vicious, immoral quasi-medical procedure has lost any moral high-ground that it may have accrued since it was formed. In the vernacular, the AAP has inserted its own head into its own multicultural rectum. How can a parent look at a certificate on their child's doctor's wall, see that it is from the AAP and not wonder if their doctor supports the mutilation of girls? I know that I will be questioning my daughter's doctor quite closely about the issue and, if he cannot unequivocally say that he opposes the asinine decision of the AAP, I can see a need to find a new physician. And I will tell him in plain language that any doctor that supports any part of religious female mutilation is unfit to be called a doctor. Physician, heal thyself.
