Grandmother charged after child thrown from walkway | Washington Examiner

Jesus Wept by Eric Hollander.  Today He wept for Angelyn.
Grandmother charged after child thrown from walkway | Washington Examiner

I spent a long time in law enforcement and most of it was good. One thing that always bothered me, though, was how people could abuse their own children. As I spent many years in DEA the abuse I saw usually had drugs at its core and the parents involved were often addicts. That doesn't apply here, however, because in this case the maternal grandmother, Carmela Dela Rosa, age 50, allegedly picked-up her 2-year old granddaughter, Angelyn Ogdoc, and tossed her over the edge of a 6th story walkway between the parking garage and the Tysons Corner Center Mall in Fairfax, Virginia. Angelyn died at Fairfax Inova Hospital in the wee hours of this morning and the grandmother is now in jail and charged with murder. No reason has been given for this heinous act.

My wife, daughter and I have often been to that mall and when we've gone there we use that parking garage. The walls on the sides of the walkway are high enough that it is beyond belief that such an act could be accidental which leads me to the same conclusion as the police: a deliberate act leading to the death of an innocent child. That being said, my heart goes out to the mother, father and siblings of Angelyn. She was far too young to die and to do so in such a sudden and horrifying manner almost brings me to tears. As the father of a young, precocious and beautiful 4-year old daughter, I can imagine the stabbing pain in my own heart should something happen to her. Seeing a child terribly injured is a traumatic experience. The pain of seeing your own child in such a condition is unimaginable. I can also palpably feel what the police officers who arrived on the scene felt when they saw what had happened. Those feelings are the kind that come back to haunt us in the quiet of our nights and we carry them until the Lord calls us Home. Some call it PTSD. I call it heart.

It appears from the surnames that the people involved are ethnic Filipino--my wife, a proud Filipina, was immediately certain of that when she read the story--and that makes the case even more unusual because family is the center of the Filipino culture. Family is so important that you don't see the nursing homes in the Philippines that are prevalent in America. Family is so important that if someone is in the hospital the medical staff and the hospital just assumes that family members will be camping out in or by the patient's room. Even the family pets are kept at home to die feeling loved rather than put down at the vet's office if they are ill. That is not to say that there is never murder within family units in the Philippines. Those crimes do, of course, happen but something like this is very rare there. But of course, these circumstances are rare in the United States as well. I cannot imagine anyone not shocked by what happened to Angelyn.

All I can say is that she will be in my prayers today and I am certain that she is now in Heaven. May she rest in peace.

The Federal Pay Freeze, In Context

A much bigger bus to handle all those government employees!
In the interests of full disclosure I spent 32 years in the service of my country, 25 of which were on the civilian side of the government.  I am now retired and subject to the whims of OPM and Congress when it comes to my retirement pay and I still must work to make ends meet.

I've listened for months to the chatter by fellow Conservatives about how the federal civilian work force was grossly overpaid and kept my silence not because I agreed but because I knew that there were cases where that was a true statement.  Unfortunately, for me and many in my government sector, the claim that we were "overpaid bureaucrats" was grossly misleading.  I say "unfortunately" because it would have been nice to have one of those cushy Washington jobs that paid SES salary and didn't require transfers every few years (sometimes to Third World countries), exposure to infectious diseases, gunfire and physical violence and irregular work hours that usually added up to well over 60 hours a week (for which I was paid at a rate of about 1/2 regular time).  Yes, a job like that would have been grand and I know those positions existed because I read about them on the internet where it said that those $100,000.00 a year jobs were all over the place in Washington, DC.  And they also said that those jobs gave you free health insurance when you retired.  I wish I had been able to get to one of those because I now pay 100% of my health insurance bill on my retirement salary...which is one of the reasons why I still work.

But I'm not complaining.  I enjoyed my time as a civil servant.  I do have a very bad back from a bit of a tussle with a criminal I was arresting back in the '80s but no regrets.  My last assignment was in Washington, DC, and I was able to finally buy my own home at age 58.  Quite a bit later than most of my civilian counterparts who didn't work for the government but still, thanks to Congress some aren't able to buy at all despite working hard and saving their money.  My house will be paid off when I'm 88 so then I can fully retire.

This morning I watched President Obama stand before reporters and announce that he was going to freeze the pay of civilian federal workers for the next two years.  He, reading from his teleprompter, of course, waxed eloquently about how there needed to be shared sacrifice and that the savings over the next two years would amount to a staggering $28 Billion (with a capital B, no less).  It was underwhelming speech so no wonder he took no questions.

Now this doesn't affect me monetarily because I'm retired..sort of.  The economic downturn--which is traceable more directly to Nancy "The Nanny" Pelosi's Democratic Congress under President Bush than to Bush himself (yes, I know he could have vetoed the spending but didn't)--has me underwater on my house and with no increase in my government pension this last year or in the foreseeable future.  But I started thinking about that savings of a whole $28 BILLION vs. the $1+ TRILLION debt that Obama and his minions have run up in the last 22 months and it occurred to me that it was really pretty small potatoes by comparison despite the build-up he gave it.  As a matter of fact, as I thought about it, it was clear that he'd just thrown the entire civilian side of government--minus Congress, of course--under his ever-present bus where they will join his grandmother and the Reverend Wright along with more than a few others that were necessary sacrifices in the name of his political ambition.  (The more I think about it the more it seems to me that he could have accomplished the same savings by just firing all those Czars.  Just sayin'.)

This from a man who just got 12 stitches in his lip from a wild elbow while playing basketball.  (Odd that, as I didn't think that he would play with TEA Party people.)  Despite the injury though he has returned to the court and, while heroically injured, played against his daughters.  I hope they were gentle on their daddy.

Now if like me you're actually wondering what the impact of his valiant effort to curb government spending is in comparison to his valiant effort to outspend every previous American President combined thus run-up an unconscionable debt, follow the link.  You'll be amazed.

Wikileaks: Time for Drastic and Decisive Action

Wikileaks: Time for Drastic and Decisive Action

It is past time for an espionage indictment of the weaselly chief and staff of Wikileaks for what they have done is clearly an attack on the United States.

Currently there is but one arrest in the leaks to Wikileaks. A low-level Army intelligence specialist, E-4 Bradley Manning, is in custody. He is being blamed, at least in the press, for the latest leak but that begs the question: How was such a low-level individual from the military able to download that much State Department information without warning bells and whistles going off all over the Intel community? Or was the release of the State Department documents from another source? Or could it have been and "approved" leak by the Obama Regime? One thing I do know is that it is entirely possible to monitor who-does-what on the government's computer systems. As early as the 1980's, when I was with DEA, if I accessed a name in the data base and there was an investigation on that individual in another office on the other side of the country--or the world--I could expect a call from that Case Agent asking why. So how could the low-level military traitor have gotten access to the State Department's classified info on such a massive scale without raising warning flags in 2010? Your guess is as good as mine.

We'll have to wait and see if the Obama Regime takes action against these people. Unless, of course, they tacitly approved of the release or liked that it damaged the United States (which does not seem beyond the pale given other actions and policies by the Regime). But given that they (the Regime) had no part in this abysmal event, action is needed and it is up to the President to direct his Attorney General to take that action. That should be doable because it does not appear that any members of the New Black Panther Party were involved.

Sunday Reflection: After his own loss, a general salutes two brave Marines | Washington Examiner

My Uncle, Lt. Ole Woods, served with Puller at Chosin.  It's good to know the Marines still produce leaders of this caliber.
Sunday Reflection: After his own loss, a general salutes two brave Marines | Washington Examiner

I was in the Army but I've always had the utmost respect for the United States Marine Corps. Like the Texas Rangers, the Marines have a reputation for being the bane of those who are the enemy. The Army, as good as it is, has strived to ensure continuity of leadership by developing leaders that appear to have come from the same bland mold. They are effective leaders, to be sure, but they lack the aura of leadership that fighting men, and women, crave. That unique, oft-times flamboyant style of individual leadership was purposely bred out of Army Generals after the death of George Patton. The Army clearly decided that it should only have Generals as adept in the art of Political Correctness as they were in the Art of War.

The Marines have not traveled that same path and they still produce leaders that would bring a smile to Chesty Puller's face. Lt. Gen. John F. Kelly is one such leader and he is clearly a warrior that understands war and how best to prosecute it. This is the type of leader that has made the Marines the organization that they are. May his hero son and the two heroic Marines he speaks of rest in peace and may God Bless them. Semper Fi!

‘Blue Bloods’ rerun beats Barack Obama in the ratings

Blue Bloods: An excellent show that deserves to have a good time slot.
There is an explanation for this.

I've always liked, as do most people, Tom Selleck as an actor; but have never met Selleck the man.  Somehow, though, I don't think that Selleck the man is all that far removed from Selleck the actor.  Like many of the most enjoyable stars of the past, Selleck brings a lot of himself to his roles which makes his character not only believable but eminently likable.  His new project, Blue Bloods does not disappoint at all and while I usually avoid police dramas like a plague, I must admit:  I like Blue Bloods.  A lot.  It shows the human side of law enforcement without the asinine Hollywood-liberal moralizing that we're faced with in otherwise good shows like Law and Order.  The drama is good and balanced by the proper amount of good, cop-family humor.

Obama is likable enough in this public persona; but Obama, on the other hand, does not play himself.  After all this time we are still wondering just exactly who he is.  He shows us only what he thinks we want to see and fails miserably.  His acting is wooden although I will admit that he has a certain skill in reading a speech from a teleprompter.  What's even worse is that his story-line can only be followed if one is willing to completely suspend disbelief.

I do hope Blue Bloods is picked-up by the networks because it's an enjoyable show with a great cast led by a consummate actor.  On the other hand, I pray the American voters do not renew Obama's tele-novella because of it's tedious assault on the basic rights of We the People and the Constitution.  We the People, you see, love good fiction...just not from our politicians.

The First Thanksgiving Proclamation

At Valley Forge George Washington knelt in prayer to thank God and seek His guidance.
Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor; and Whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me to "recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness:"

Now, therefore, I do recommend and assign Thursday, the 26th day of November next, to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this country previous to their becoming a nation; for the signal and manifold mercies and the favorable interpositions of His providence in the course and conclusion of the late war; for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty which we have since enjoyed; for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enable to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national one now lately instituted for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and, in general, for all the great and various favors which He has been pleased to confer upon us.

And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech Him to pardon our national and other transgressions; to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually; to render our National Government a blessing to all the people by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed; to protect and guide all sovereigns and nations (especially such as have shown kindness to us), and to bless them with good governments, peace, and concord; to promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and us; and, generally to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as He alone knows to be best.

Given under my hand, at the city of New York, the 3d day of October, A.D. 1789.

Omission Watch: Obama Nominated Chicago Agent for ATF Chief, Drawing Opposition from NRA

Because it's not really about the guns.  It's about control.
Omission Watch: Obama Nominated Chicago Agent for ATF Chief, Drawing Opposition from NRA

Normally these type of nominations sail through Congress with little or no opposition. In this case, however, the proposed Director of the BATF has demonstrated a strong antipathy towards the 2nd Amendment and this cannot be tolerated. We cannot give bureaucrats, even if they are professional law enforcement personnel, authority which they are wont to abuse. In the case of Andrew Traver, there is no doubt that he is not interested in just enforcing the law. He is clearly in favor of disarming all citizens and has assisted the liberal media--is there any other kind other than Fox?--in the demonization of guns.

Write your Senators now and oppose his confirmation. This man should not be given the reins of power.

Developers of Mosque Near Ground Zero Seek Federal Funds for Post-9/11 Rebuilding

We will never forget...
Let me get this straight.  First, over the objections of a clear majority of Americans, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf and his crowd want to build what amounts to an Islamist victory monument to the Jihad 19 in the shadows of Ground Zero.  In the raucous discussion about that proposal the apologist defenders of the Ground Zero Mosque stated emphatically time and again that the "...mosque is not at Ground Zero!"

Now the Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf wants the U.S. Government to give $5 million for the renovation from funds set aside to redevelop Lower Manhattan after 9/11.

This is further insult to injury.

Overreaching Food “Safety” Modernization Act Would Destroy Family Farmers

Necessary reading for anyone dealing with the Government.
Having been raised on a farm and ranch in Southern Idaho I have to say that more government does not equal safer food.  It does equal higher production costs.  It does equal less profit for the farmer and more expense for the consumer.  It does equal fewer farmers growing food and a move to large, corporate farms.  But it absolutely does not equal safer food.

As my mother used to say, if you don't properly clean and cook the food you might get sick.  I never got sick from food when I was growing up.  We had eggs for breakfast and never had to worry about salmonella poisoning.  We ate corn freshly picked from the field and never worried about contamination.

There wasn't a lot of government involvement back then and things were safer than today.  Maybe it's all an outgrowth of feminism when, to the great appreciation of all us teenage boys in high school, girls threw away their bras and stopped taking Home Economics in school because it was demeaning to them as independent women.  And as a result they never learned the "kitchen tricks of the trade" from either teachers or their mothers.

Anyone see a corollary there?

Nearly 1 in 5 Americans had mental illness in 2009

This is shocking but the exit polls in the 2010 election cycle explain this quite nicely.  Those polls indicated that about 21% of the voters identified themselves as liberals.

Seems about right to me.

#3 Boise State Rolls Over Fresno St. 51-0

It hurts an Idaho alumni to say it but there is no doubt that this team should play for the National Championship.
This was the first time Fresno State has been shut-out in 12 years.

It gives me no great pleasure to report on this as I graduated from an arch-rival of Boise State's:  The University of Idaho.  But my oldest son did play for Boise State about 16 years ago so I have some affinity for them.

As I've watched the ratings it appears to me that Boise State, having had a weekend off early in the season, was shorted in the ratings because although they were undefeated--and magnificently so--they've been playing one win short of the leaders (#1 Oregon and #2 Auburn) all season.  Both those teams were off this weekend so now Boise State essentially matches them with 10 straight wins (Auburn has won 11 and Oregon 10) this season.  Boise State's win streak goes back 3 seasons however and last year they beat Oregon.  But Oregon has been rated #1 and Boise State #3.  Go figure.

But don't take my word for it.  Follow the link and read the AP article and pay attention to what Fresno State coach Pat Hill has to say.  He speaks the truth.

Then wonder about the "human factor" in the BCS.

CAIR Spreads Propaganda for Radical Saudis on Islam’s Holiest Day

This is CAIR's true goal.
This article by Dr. M. Zuhdi Jassar, an American Muslim, clearly points out that CAIR's motivation is to further the Islamist jihad against the United States from within.  Political correctness prevents both our government and the Left Stream Media from acknowledging the danger of CAIR's activities even though it was an identified as an un-indicted  co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation case involving the illegal movement of money to Hamas.  And we would be foolish to forget the former CAIR officials that have been indicted for being actively involved in terrorism.

Their latest move is to try and obtain a religious exemption for Muslim women who wear the hajib while flying.  Clearly CAIR does not have the best interests of America at heart and the sooner it is exposed to all Americans for what it is the better.  Our government would be much better off listening to men like Dr. Jassar than to extremists whose goal is the subjugation of our nation.

Exclusive: Rep. Upton Vows to Fight for Tea Party Principles

Ok, Fred, your memo vowing to fight for Tea Party principles is very nice. But how about that stupid, job killing law that mandates the demise of incandescent light bulbs while mandating use of fluorescent light bulbs? You know, the ones that contain mercury that will endanger our children when they break, that require special disposal methods and are all manufactured overseas?  What are you going to do about that sterling bit of legislative stupidity that should have never been enacted? Or is your memo a fabrication just so you can get the committee chairmanship?

Muslim Group Advises Women Wearing Hijabs to Allow TSA ‘Enhanced Pat Downs’ Only on Head and Neck Area

It's time we told CAIR and Rage Boy just where they can put their ideas and their fatwas.
If the feigned leftist-based outrage over the full body scan weren't enough now we have Council on American Islamic Relations, also known as CAIR even though we know they don't, in homage to Shari'ah law, advocating that Muslim women be treated differently than non-Muslim women.  And they do this knowing that terrorists have a track record of using the burqa to move about unnoticed and to hide explosives and weapons.  Hmmmm...something is rotten in Denmark (other than their own dhimmitude status) as there is no reason for any deferential treatment of Muslim women or men.  They have the same rights as non-Muslims, not superior rights as CAIR advocates, and if they want to fly they must clear security otherwise they can walk or ride to their destination on some other form of transport that can't be used as a method of mass destruction.   Clearly CAIR has chosen a side in the War on Terror and guess what...it isn't ours.  Is that really a surprise to anyone out there?

And where are the so-called moderate Muslims?  Are they calling out CAIR and the Muslim Brotherhood and telling them to go back home and leave America alone?  Don't hold your breath on that one.  It hasn't happened yet...or maybe it has but the Left Stream Media doesn't think it's news and certainly doesn't want to anger CAIR and the Brotherhood by broadcasting it.

I have gone through the full body scanner in my travels and, knowing the problems of protecting an aircraft once it's in the air, I'm all for anything and everything that can ensure that no one takes an unauthorized weapon on board that aircraft.  And that includes the crew although I see no reason for them to go through the same lines with the passengers.

Our problem is now two-fold.  First, we have the natural human characteristic to forget things as time passes.  While acknowledging 9/11, for instance, we forget the awful feeling in our gut as we saw the planes hitting the World Trade Center.  And because the 3 major Left Stream Media outlets have determined the footage to be "incendiary," we forget the horror of seeing people forced to jump to their deaths or be burned to death because they won't show the footage on TV.  They want us to forget.

Second, knowing that the Left Stream Media is now cowed and afraid of becoming the direct target of terrorists if they broadcast opposition to their message, groups like CAIR actively push the envelope to expand the influence of Shari'ah and their own political agenda of deconstructing America and its Constitution.

The question is:  Will we let them?

Conservatives burn over Fred Upton's light bulb law

The ultimate end to Fred Upton's programs: The inmates will be in charge.
I wonder why Conservatives would be against the new lightbulb law that outlaws incandescent light bulbs in the very near future?

Could it be that Conservatives object to a law that has moved all lightbulb production overseas thus closing American factories and eliminating American jobs?

Could it be that Conservatives, thinking the problem through, realize that the new law causes more environmental problems than it solves with its mandating of mercury-using CFL bulbs which cause a hazmat problem when they break?

Could it be that Conservatives believe that the federal government is over-reaching when it dictates the amount of water our toilets can use to flush, what kind of light we can use to read or light our bathrooms?

Could be.

Representative Fred Upton is clearly a Republican in Name Only and he just doesn't get it.  He needs to be replaced right along with the rest of the Progressive Liberals in 2012.  Don't forget his name and donate to his opponent before they actually do create a "Green Police."

Burma Junta Releases Democracy Leader Suu Kyi

Free...but for how long?
Aung San Suu Kyi...finally, she is free!  For the moment, that is.

Given the despotic nature of the military junta that rules Burma, however, it is likely that they will imprison her again at some point in the not too distant future using the slightest pretense.  This woman has spent 15 of the last 20 years imprisoned by quite probably the only government that Obama hasn't apologized or bowed to.  She remains unbowed in her quest for democracy and freedom for the Burmese people.  This slightly built woman in a small country on the other side of the world unequivocally demonstrates for the entire world what our own Forefathers meant when they said that they pledged their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to the cause of freedom.

Lest We Forget

"...Tho I've belted you and flayed you
By the livin' Gawd that made you
You're a better man than I am, Gunga Din."

Fitting for this day a Canadian Facebook friend celebrating "Remembrance Day" posted simply and eloquently "Lest we forget."  Few know that this comes from a poem by Rudyard Kipling titled "Recessional."

God of our fathers, known of old—
Lord of our far-flung battle line—
Beneath whose awful hand we hold
Dominion over palm and pine—
Lord God of Hosts, be with us yet,
Lest we forget—lest we forget!

The tumult and the shouting dies—
The Captains and the Kings depart—
Still stands Thine ancient sacrifice,
An humble and a contrite heart.
Lord God of Hosts, be with us yet,
Lest we forget—lest we forget!

Far-called our navies melt away—
On dune and headland sinks the fire—
Lo, all our pomp of yesterday
Is one with Nineveh and Tyre!
Judge of the Nations, spare us yet,
Lest we forget—lest we forget!

If, drunk with sight of power, we loose
Wild tongues that have not Thee in awe—
Such boastings as the Gentiles use,
Or lesser breeds without the Law—
Lord God of Hosts, be with us yet,
Lest we forget—lest we forget!

For heathen heart that puts her trust
In reeking tube and iron shard—
All valiant dust that builds on dust,
And guarding calls not Thee to guard.
For frantic boast and foolish word,
Thy Mercy on Thy People, Lord!
Amen.

And that is where we get the phrase "Lest we forget."  One of the more elegant epitaphs extant and oh so ever appropriate a thought for this Veteran's Day.

Patriotic Tribute to our Military-Song-"Liberty"-Ronnie Kimball-FREE DOW...

To all my fellow veterans and those who are now serving, thank you. Thank you for your service. Thank you for your sacrifice.

Two senators eye gas tax hike to pay for highways and bridges - The Hill's On The Money

Two senators eye gas tax hike to pay for highways and bridges - The Hill's On The Money

Two Senators (Tom Carper (D-Del) and George Voinovich (R-Ohio)), one a liberal, Neo-Lib Democrat and the other a RINO of the first order, have jointly proposed that the price of gas and diesel be raised by $.25 per gallon in the form of increased tax. They didn't even bother to wear masks.

If that weren't bad enough, Voinovich wants the Bush tax cuts to expire.

Or will the Neo-Lib Democrat Party savage him as they have all other Hispanics who dared to step forward without their permission. Make no mistake about it, Democrats only care for ethnic groups during elections. The rest of the time they give them lip-service until the next election and soundly attack and disparage any who might think for themselves and be conservative.

Obama calls for compromise, won't budge on tax cuts - TheHill.com

"What?  Me compromise?"
Obama calls for compromise, won't budge on tax cuts - TheHill.com

There truly is no cure for stupid.

We have a president who is so out touch with the American people that he can't understand that we were rejecting his policies on November 2 and not his ability to make speeches. He apparently believes that the problem lay with a failure to communicate and in a way he is correct: for communication to be effective you must talk and listen. Obama and the Progressives just talked. They completely failed to listen.

Now it is clear that the president doesn't know the meaning of compromise and he should know that it's not the winners who compromise but the losers.  Apparently, he hasn't had time to realize that he was not the winner on November 2.  Perhaps he shall before 2012 but, given that he is a socialist ideologue, I doubt it.

A friend emailed me a short clip of Jay Leno's The Best of Jaywalking and it was truly hilarious. What was revealed was not the ignorance of a select few individuals but the state of education in America and how it has prepared an entire generation for little more than following the latest fad or fashion. And we all know it's true as we encounter people every day that would be no more able to answer the simple questions posed by Jay than fly by the power of their arms alone. It is sobering to realize that these people vote. They vote not with a decision rooted in history or an appreciation for future implications but with what feels good based on the recommendations of their favorite entertainer, what a friend said in passing or how they reacted to the latest negative campaign ad. (Which is why negative campaigning is so effective.)

I remember that during the voting in the 2008 campaign, for instance, that voters were interviewed on who they voted for and asked some simple questions. It amazed me the amount of disinformation they believed to be true. For instance, it was Tina Fey who said, "I can see Russia from my house." and not Sarah Palin, but they all attributed it to Palin. And some could not even name President Obama's running mate (it was Joe Biden for the liberally challenged out there). Even more recently in the latest election I encountered a woman, a clearly Catholic, elderly Filipina who had taken American citizenship, who stated strongly that she was going to vote for the Democrat candidate despite his very pro-abortion stance which the Catholic Church, and all good Catholics so oppose. She rejected the Republican candidate saying, "He (the Democrat) may be for abortion but that doesn't matter. The other guy is a killer!" She had seen and believed the lying attack ads put out by the Democrat party in the closing weeks of the campaign. I smiled and didn't bother to argue with her because I realized long ago that you lose when you try to argue with an ignorant person because they will always drag you down to their level then beat you with experience.

The death of hyper-liberalism sounds wonderful to Conservative ears but, like the vampires of lore, hyper-liberalism never really dies. Given the opportunity the stake will be pulled out of its heart by those who haven't been educated to think but only to follow the crowd and look cool. Obama's ideas have been discredited many times in many countries over not just decades but centuries. One only has to look at what really happened in Cuba to see the truth but seeing is not realizing. You have to remember that there are those who actually believe Michael Moore's docu-fiction films. Hyper-liberalism can only be contained by constant vigilance and ensuring that, despite the worst efforts of our educators to turn our children into unthinking, liberal zombies with high self-esteem, we impart the wisdom of history and common sense to them before turning them loose on the world.

AARP Selling Out Seniors Again

AARP was on board early supporting Obamacare and the Obama agenda.  Clearly they were using AARP dues to further their own political interests which were progressive/liberal in nature.  During the debate on Obamacare they lent their organization's name and reputation in support of socialized medicine trumpeting lies about cost reductions and future free care.  They lied when they said that Obamacare would improve Medicare and Medicaid.  They wholeheartedly endorsed Obama, Reid and Pelosi's socialist agenda.

As a result the American Seniors Organization was created as an alternative.  Never has that alternative been more needed for not a day goes by that AARP doesn't advertise on national TV about their great health plan to pick-up the difference between the 80% paid by Medicare and the total bill.  Again, their avarice is plain for all to see for they knew from the beginning that Obamacare was not in the best interests of Senior Citizens in America.  They have taken the money, now they want more, and they are stabbing the Senior Citizens in the back to increase their profits.

Now the truth is coming out.  AARP has begun notifying its policy holders that their premiums, paid for out of retirements that have been under assault as a result of the Neo-Lib Democrat programs that have severely damaged America's economy rather than repairing the damage that they arranged beginning when they took control of Congress in January 2007, are going up.  Senior Citizens living on fixed incomes will have to pay more to ensure AARP's profitability so they can continue to support and make political donations to the very people who enacted programs to make Senior Citizen's lives, and the lives of their grand children, harder and more impoverished.

Seniors should tear-up their AARP cards and move over to the American Seniors Organization. At least that group really does care about Senior Citizens.

Justice, Denied

We now have a Republican House and January must be the beginning of the end of Eric Holder's criminal-like mismanagement of the Department of Justice.  That being said, it is not only Eric Holder who needs to answer for egregious favoritism in enforcing the law for what has happened in the Civil Rights Division reference the refusal to defend the right of all citizens to vote, including the New Black Panther case, is either favoritism based on ethnicity or abysmal ignorance.  I, for one, do not believe that the people at the DoJ are ignorant.  I believe that they are simply amoral racists who deserve the harshest punishment possible.

Pay No Attention to the Communists behind the Curtain

Pay No Attention to the Communists behind the Curtain

My recommended read of the day.

When you go to the polls tomorrow, remember which party it is that has enabled people like Bill Ayers, the unrepentant domestic terrorist, to have a friend and cohort in the White House. The Weather Underground, unlike the Conservatives that Janet Napolitano would like to target, was a real domestic terrorist organization that Ayers and his wife, Bernadine Dorhn, headed. It killed people and it bombed the Pentagon.

Mark Hemingway: Unions target your private retirement savings | Washington Examiner

Both are masters of theft.
Mark Hemingway: Unions target your private retirement savings | Washington Examiner

Do you know what is really scary about this? We already have a guaranteed retirement account and we are already taxed to support that account. It's called Social Security. But now two Neo-Lib Democrat Senators–ok, one patently Neo-Lib Democrat and one Independent who calls himself a Socialist (at least in that he is truthful)–have held hearings that discussed doing away with the 401(k) and requiring a mandatory retirement deposit be made to the government. They will call it--now wait, this is rich--a Guaranteed Retirement Account.

This sounds just peachy...if you're a thief wanting to steal more money. Most of you won't remember that the original Social Security program placed the funds collected into a trust fund. That fund did very well and Social Security was completely solvent. But the fund did too well and under President Lyndon Johnson's Great Society program (ca. 1965) the Democrat-controlled Congress changed the rules so that Congress could use those funds for other than Social Security. As a result of Congress essentially stealing those funds--had they said at the beginning when FDR proposed Social Security that the money would go to the general fund rather than a trust fund the bill would not have passed--the fund has been depleted to the point that in the next 10 or so years it will be broke. There will not be enough money to cover the payments required under the law. The money that we've already put in will have been spent.

But Americans are a thinking people. Long ago we realized that unlike our grandparents we could not have a comfortable retirement or even depend on Social Security. Thus, with urging from We the People, Congress passed laws allowing for 401(k) and Roth retirement accounts. With those laws we could plan for our own retirement and ensure that it was comfortable. At least we thought so until Mr. Yes We Can Obama and his minions came along.

So what is the next move? (And please note and remember that it was the Democrats that screwed-up Social Security in the first place.) Obama and his Regime have decided that the government should take-over the 401(k) accounts and put them into a new Guaranteed Retirement Account. The final bill will, I am sure, require that these accounts be completely sacrosanct so it will be an individual's account and he or she will know exactly how much money is in the account and everyone will be happy. At least until the last vestiges of private retirement accounts have been eliminated. At that point we only have to wait until we again have a liberal Democrat-controlled Congress, a crisis that is either real or created, and voilà: Congress in its infinite wisdom and ultimate avarice will again change the law to allow themselves access to our retirement funds for, of course, the good of all. They will of course guarantee that we will get the money when we retire but that will come from future budgets rather than an account that we alone control. The exact same thing they said back in 1965 and we all know just how well that worked!

Imagine, the Social Security program that was to be our retirement account will be broke in all too few years because of Congressional slight-of-hand thievery. Now they are going to create a new program to increase our dependency on the federal government even more. Anyone want to take bets on how long it will be before they manage to bankrupt that program as well?

And go vote tomorrow. Vote wisely and send Liberals and RINOs a pink slip. It's time to elect people who really have our interests at heart because the current crowd certainly doesn't!
