Fast, furious and wrong: Obama administration faces outrage over guns in Mexico

Our Founding Fathers included the 2nd Amendment in the Bill of Rights for sound historical reasons as well as to ensure that the God-given, thus unalienable, right of self-defense was clearly protected. Without the Bill of Rights, the Constitution would never have been ratified and our nation would have quickly devolved to tyranny. Despite the protections set forth in that the basis of all our laws, there have been those who disagreed with those protections and who since its ratification have been bent on the destruction of the Constitution as envisioned by the Founders. Through history they have been called by different names and now they use the sobriquet of "Progressive" even though the policies they support are entirely regressive in nature. We must always be watchful of their actions for while their words drip with sweet concern for mankind, the sweetness conceals poisons intended to destroy our liberty.

In this case we have a perfect example of such words. The president speaks of wanting to ensure that criminals in Mexico do not have access to weapons from America but it is not the criminals that are restricted or punished with increased bureaucratic red tape but the law-abiding citizen. That this Regime could see fit to send guns illegally to Mexico then use the fact that those guns were used in crimes in Mexico to justify additional gun control measures to limit the right of Americans to keep and bear arms is an unconscionable assault on our Constitution and our liberty. We must call for the removal, and if necessary the impeachment, of those involved in the act and in the cover-up that is ongoing.

History shows us that tyranny begins with movements to disarm the citizenry for its own good. We are told time and again that the central government only wants what is best for all and to ensure that all are protected we must surrender our right to self defense and rely on the state for protection. The truth of the matter is that there is no safety in the state. It cannot be relied upon to be there when we are in personal danger for when seconds count, help is truly minutes away. The truth is that only law abiding citizens comply with such laws which gives the criminal class complete freedom to exercise its depredations with impunity. The truth is that the primary distinction between a free man and a slave is the right to bear arms yet there are those who choose slavery thinking that it will make them free.

Journalism is truly dead! Long live journalism!

"We 'journalists' know what is best so quit complaining.  And will you quit saying that I look like Gadafi's twin sister!"
Woman Accused of E-mail Death Threats Charged, Not Arrested, Media Silent

There are a couple of things that trouble me with this situation.  First, this woman was teaching children; and, second, the Left Stream Media, after its knee-jerk paroxysm of anguish over speech that could cause violence in the wake of the Arizona shooting during which they blamed every prominent Republican and Conservative that they could identify as being a challenge to Obama in 2012, has been completely silent.  At the time of the Arizona shooting while the talking-heads were wagging their collective fingers at the use of "targeting" and other militaristic words and phrases in the political discourse, most Americans agreed that rhetoric in politics was filled with violent-sounding terms that might give those who were mentally unbalanced the idea that violence was called for.  With what happened in Madison, Wisconsin, during the union-backed demonstrations that caused millions of dollars in damages it is abundantly clear that the words and tears of anguish in the aftermath of the murders and woundings in Tucson were the insincere rants and actions of liberals looking only for political advantage in the wake of a terrible crime committed by a criminal with no connections to any Republican or Conservative.

The threats by this teacher (who now faces prosecution) are a natural outgrowth of liberal-socialist thinking, union politics that encourages violent demonstrations "for the public good" and left-wing journalism that drapes such actions in robes of faux heroism.  Rather than hang her head in shame this teacher is probably proud of having crossed the line from legitimate political dissent to crime because for socialists and unions the line simply does not exist.  In their tiny, dark minds anything, including threats and violence, that will advance their cause or make their opposition hesitant to continue opposing their demands is a legitimate tool to be used whenever necessary.  Were the Left Stream Media credible, they would have pointed out that throughout history political violence has emanated from the liberal left far more than from the conservative right.  Instead the journalists of the 21st century are imbued with belief that the only true threat to their vision of America is that it hold true to the ideals of the Founding Fathers by providing for individual freedom.  They believe that socialist government, guided and supported by the Fourth Estate, is the way of the future.  They believe not in equal opportunity but in equal results.

Hopefully this teacher will be permanently removed from the classroom for she has amply demonstrated that she is totally unfit to be placed in a position of guiding young minds through education.  Unfortunately, that is only part of the problem because the system that created a teacher capable of such asinine actions is still in place and still supported by the public sector unions that not only encouraged but helped create the system.  Among public sector unions there is a prevalence of thought that the union and its members can act contrary to law and that comes from the thuggish idea that because unions represent a large number of "public workers" they are exempt from the law or can bend it to suit their purpose.  That is why FDR, while being a strong supporter of unions in the private sector, absolutely opposed public sector unions.  That is why it wouldn't surprise me to see this teacher supported by the unions who will argue that she was just exercising her right to dissent.  That she was threatening the lives of politicians with whom she disagreed is clearly not important in their eyes or in the eyes of the Left Stream Media.

There is, of course, a larger story here.  One about the death of journalism in the 21st century.  It's been said by several different writers that journalism died back in 2008 but it was actually on it's death bed for a several decades.  It was targeted by the left as early as the 1960's in the era of Bill Ayers and Bernadette Dohrn (who relied on its short-term memory problems) and it died slowly by the death from 1,000 cuts which left it bleeding, inutile and unable to understand the concept of, let alone report, the truth.  It was first blinded by socialist dogma, multiculturalism and diversity.  Then its ethics were destroyed by the dogma of political correctness and the erasing of the lines between right and wrong.  Finally, it was willingly and blindly led over the cliff of veracity to die falling into the pit of socialist purity.  Journalism is surely dead!  Long live journalism!

Only 14, Bangladeshi Girl Charged with Adultery was Lashed to Death

Hena Akhtar, victim of shari'ah law.
Hena Akhtar, also known as Hena Begum, deserves to be remembered and not to be just another statistic in a Third World country.  Look into her eyes: she was just a child who despite poverty and a culture that offered no real future in the view of those reading this blog, could smile and enjoy life.  She was innocent and she committed no crime by any reasonable definition of the word.  Her only crime was that she was a female who would have had to have four male witnesses to swear that she had been raped if she was to avoid the penalty that was sure to be meted by Islamic religious authority in her hometown of Shariatpur, Bangladesh.  Her testimony, or the testimony of any number of female witnesses, would be inadequate under shari'ah.  The village elders met, the imam issued a fatwa, and she was publicly whipped to death.

There is no defense for such brutality.  We can cluck our tongues and avert our eyes while talking about the ignorance and poverty that allows such inhumane actions; and, we can piously point out that the imam was not truly following the Koran but that only makes us as guilty as the one holding the whip.  For those who would apologize for Islam, the apology cannot be accepted unless accompanied by proactive steps of change and we aren't seeing that.  What we see instead is a perfunctory statement that "it's wrong but that's not the true religion" and a quick change of the subject.  What we think is "Fail!"

The body of evidence available in the world today clearly shows that Islam has developed into a worship of brutality and death such as was the norm in the 10th century.  In other words, it hasn't developed or, if it ever did, ill-educated, religious leadership has devolved it to its current state of religious bigotry and violence.  Under the guise and guidance of its religious law--shari'ah--it justifies the subjugation of women, slavery, stoning, beheading, death for having the temerity to leave the religion, the cutting off of limbs for petty crimes and, in this case, the absolutely inhumane whipping to death of a young girl who committed no crime at all just because she was a female and that's what shari'ah law prescribes.  If the ummah can allow such atrocities to happen and go unchallenged and unpunished because those responsible are religious leaders--imams--or just because they are men who are supreme under shari'ah, then the ummah is as guilty of the crime as are the perpetrators.

There are those within the Muslim community who don't follow this medieval brand of Islam but they are a minority little followed by the media and few have been able to effectively speak out let alone begin to wrest control of the religion from the cretins who currently control it.  I pray that those few will eventually be successful because the bottom line is that if Islam wants respect from all humanity then it must give respect to all humanity.  Its current course is a blasphemy that if not corrected make its practice correspond more closely with a brutal criminal organization masquerading as a religion rather than a true religion that worships God.

The Audacity of Thuggery

We can never dismiss Liberal Democrats or Union Organizers as stupid.  Cunning and devious are good descriptive terms as is unethical and, sometimes, “criminal.”  But they are not usually stupid.  We can’t, therefore, look at the ruling by a Dane County, Wisconsin, County Judge as stupid, per se.  I’m sure that Judge MaryAnn Sumi did not believe that her familial relationship with a political operative who was a former lead field manager with the AFL-CIO and a data manager for the Wisconsin SEIU State Council, would come to light as her son’s name is Jacob Sinderbrand.  She had no reason to believe that it would be revealed for, after all, no one had mentioned it after she refused to issue an order sending striking Wisconsin teachers back to work in February during the height of the anti-Walker demonstrations in Madison.  I mean, she got away with it once so why not again and again and again?
So last Friday she quickly issued a temporary restraining order at the behest of the unions and their Democrat supporters that prevents the Wisconsin Secretary of State, Democrat Doug La Follette (who really didn’t want to publish the law anyway), from publishing the bill while she reviews the case.  I cannot believe that she is that ignorant of the law, although I fully realize that judges are sometimes amazingly ignorant.  Nor can any thinking person given her son’s prominent union activities.  No, this was clearly a case where Judge Sumi decided that she would use her judicial power to trump an action with which she and her son disagree.  It is a case where democracy be damned, the judge knows better.  (See:  http://www.redstate.com/laborunionreport/2011/03/21/wisconsin-judge-maryann-sumi-her-seiu-afl-cio-political-operative-son/ .)
Liberals, i.e., Democrats, and unions do understand how to use judges like MaryAnn Sumi to accomplish their goals despite the will of the people.  They are very adept at getting their issues before activist judges who believe that their mission in life is to impose their liberal-view of the world on We the People whether we like it or not.  We are, after all, the proletariat and have no right to question the determination of our ruling liberal elite.  This is amply demonstrated in the thuggish attitude displayed at a Western Maryland correctional facility recently when a union boss lost his cool and tried to intimidate prison guards after they started asking questions how their dues were being spent and the benefits of belonging to a union during a pre-shift meeting.  (See:  http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/mar/20/union-boss-goes-off-at-meeting-prison-guards-say/?utm_source=RSS_Feed&utm_medium=RSS .)
What is true is that Liberal Democrats and unions will brook no questioning by We the People.  The prison guards were told that union spending was none of their business ant that they have no choice but to belong.  If you dare to dispute, they are most willing to resort to violent tactics or, at least, the threat of violence.  Who can forget the bussed-in union demonstrators at the suburban Maryland home of a senior banker last fall who were escorted there by Washington, DC, Metropolitan Police Department.  They frightened the man’s teenage son, who was home alone, so badly that he locked himself in the bathroom and used his cellphone to plead for help.  And then there is this very recent nice little video of SEIU protestors at another bank headquarters:  http://biggovernment.com/eyeblasttv/2011/03/21/watch-seiu-protesters-take-over-bank-headquarters/ which was clearly meant to send a chilling message:  “Either it goes our way or we’ll show up at your house and, gee, you’ve got a nice family there, don’t you?  It would be a shame if something happened to them.”
Al Capone couldn’t have done it better.  And he certainly couldn’t have done it with the protection of the President and his Attorney General.  The SEIU and the AFL-CIO clearly can; and pure, unadulterated thuggery is just one of the tools in their bag of tricks, albeit the one they use with great relish.
But wait, you ask, didn’t We the People speak last November and repudiate the Liberal Democrat, pro-union, pro-tax and spend agenda?  Yes, we did, but they don’t plan to listen.  Those who would be dictators usually don’t.  Nor do they care about the outcome of any election except the ones which they control.  They care only about retaining the power that they have regardless of what elections, laws or courts must be perverted to do so.
What we have in public employee unions is a racket the likes of which would have pleased organized crime figures like Al Capone or any of the reputed Mafia godfathers.  Once the union gets into power they have almost unlimited resources with which to maintain their power.  The dues, which ultimately come from the deep pockets of the taxpayers and are just passed through the hands of the government workers, are deducted directly from the paychecks of the employees and deposited to the union’s account.  With the steady flow this money they fund the political fortunes of politicians ranging from the local school board up to and including the President of the United States.  At the local level they are usually successful in installing people willing to ensure that the demands of the union at the bargaining table are met.  And why not?  No elected official is charged with making a profit so there is nothing to protect.  Taxes, after all, are taken from the public who have little say in the day-to-day operation of the local government entity, be it a school board or a local government.  And on the legislative level it behooves the liberal Democrats and their RINO co-conspirators to support the needs of the public employee union because that is where they get their much needed campaign funds. With union support they are sure to win because no one is as adept at ensuring an election as a union which can line up its members and march them to the polls to vote in concert with the union’s wishes.  Doubt it?  How do you think Harry Reid kept his seat in the Senate last November?  Do you think that all those SEIU employees from the casinos in Las Vegas made up their own minds to take the same buses to the polls to vote all at the same time?  No they were told what to do and they followed orders.  The money keeps flowing from the public coffers through the unions--who ensure they take a generous cut, by the way--and back to the accounts of the politicians who raised the taxes and favored the unions.  It’s money laundering, pure and simple, but those same politicians will never declare it to be illegal even though it smells even worse than laundered drug money which, when caught, is severely prosecuted.
But it has to stop.  It should be illegal for any funds that come from the taxes paid by the public to be used for any political purpose no matter how it is laundered.  Public employee unions should be absolutely forbidden from making political contributions because it places public employees in the position of being part of the ruling elite instead of the public servants of We the People.  It’s time to step-up and say so even though we can be sure that liberals, Democrats and RINO parasites will never agree to cut themselves off of the public money teat.  As for the unions, they will try to frame this as a violation of their “civil rights” when there is no such right as evidenced by the fact that every president up to JFK absolutely refused to allow public employee unions.  But they won’t stop until absolutely forced to do so and they’ll fight, even if they lose in voting, with the help of activist judges like MaryAnn Sumi.  It has to stop.  The taxpayer can no longer afford to pay for outrageous public employee pensions and benefits and have those taxes used to support the party (Democrats, of course) that keeps increasing the taxpayer’s burden by increasing the pay, pensions and benefits.  It must stop.
Follow the title link for more on just how far from the law Judge Sumi strayed in order to help subvert the will of the Wisconsin Legislature and the Governor.  People like her do not belong on the bench and politicians who support public employee unions do not belong in office.  Both should be in jail.

Pakistan gunmen kill Christian politician

Because it has grown so common we have ceased being surprised by the violence of Islam; but why are we growing more accepting of it?
If any news organization could whitewash this news it would be the multicultural, always-politically-correct, far-left-leaning MSNBC; but, in this case even they have to report the facts.

It is long past time that we take stock of the situation in the Muslim world.  There is a dichotomy, it seems, as we know that many Muslims only want peace and prosperity yet there are just as many, if not more, who believe that it is their duty to wage war against Christians and Jews.  They are mainly ill-educated but not always.  Many of the Islamists who wage violent jihad have been educated in Western universities and have lived in Europe and the United States.  Yet, in the end, they decide to attack and kill in the name of Mohammed.

We are only a few days from the arrest of one such student, a Saudi, who was studying in Texas.  He was preparing to make car bombs to wage his jihad here in the U.S.  Such is the evil that has grown from Islam:  The idea that God supports their murder of other human beings and will reward them.  I wonder if they have ever actually thought about what kind of reward God will have for them for their violation of God's Commandment "Thou shalt not murder."  The Koran  cannot be, and most assuredly is not, superior to the laws that God gave to Moses but there are those in the Islamic world who are so wrapped up in worshipping Mohammed rather than God, that they believe that it is.

Shabaz Bhatti was a Christian who died for his faith.  He was murdered not because he had committed a crime in any sense of the word but because he didn't act like the dhimmi that he was supposed to be while living in Muslim-controlled Pakistan where Christians and other religious minorities are routinely threatened with death.  No one has been arrested in his murder.

Tell me, which one is most likely to be in the presence of the Father on the day of judgement:  the one who was murdered for his faith in a Loving God or the murderer?

Mother describes seeing toddler before fatal fall at Tysons

I previously posted on this right after the incident happened last November 2010.  This is merely an update, but it brings to light some background as to why this terrible crime happened.  Filipino families are extremely close and they believe in taking care of their parents and in-laws rather than institutionalizing them in a care facility.  As a matter of fact, old age homes are unheard of in the Philippines as people stay with their family and 99.999% of the time this is an extremely good and admirable thing.

This is that .001%.

I would be the last one to recommend a change to that cultural attitude.  To the contrary, I would recommend that it be adopted here in America.  As with any other decision, however, we must never let our guard down when dealing with anyone who has, or may have, diminished mental faculties.  That is easier said than done, however, when you're dealing with a parent and this is especially true in the Filipino culture where they truly practice God's Commandment to "Honor thy mother and father."  That the mother of the little girl has agonized over having walked ahead of her mother and daughter--as she probably had many times before--goes without saying.

Please keep the family in your prayers.

Why the Black Panther Case Matters

There has been no more egregious failure to uphold the mission of the Department of Justice in its history than the handling of the New Black Panther Case by Attorney General Eric Holder.  Actually, I should say non-handling for Holder has purposely failed in his duties and is a disgrace to a legal profession that already has a notoriously low standard for conduct.

The man, if he had any honor, would resign.  But we all know that he is committed to protecting his boss and those who support his boss.  To do so requires that he ignore justice and act only on politics.

The Left's History Of Violence

Ernesto "Che" Guevara.  Mass murderer and, as Cpt. H.I. Bell once said to a campus leftist in 1970, "If he was such a good guerilla fighter why is he dead?"  His is the iconic image of the left and clearly they miss him.
As we listen to liberal pundits, the Left Stream Media and Democrat politicians bemoan what they term as "heated rhetoric" that "must be toned-down" while blaming the Conservative right for "inspiring" the murders in Tucson, it is good to take a moment to remember just who has a history of violence.  It certainly is not the Conservative right.

The linked article takes you on a short trip down memory lane.  The liberals still tout the murderers mentioned, some of them mass murderers far in excess of what happened in Tucson, in posters, t-shirts and slogans.

Sheriff Dupnik's Irresponsible Comments

If Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik did not cross of line of professionalism yesterday with his public comments about "vitriol" and "prejudice in Arizona", he definitely did today. Of course, this piles sand on what I just posted about the liberal media's premature attempt to tie this hideous act in Tucson to conservative talk radio, tea parties and everything else the left hates. That is irresponsible journalism which we have come to expect. However, we should not expect political commentary and personal opinions from a law enforcement officer, especially when there are no facts to bear out what he is suggesting.

From Saturday:

"When you look at unbalanced people, how they respond to the vitriol that comes out of certain mouths about tearing down the government," said Dupnik at a press conference Saturday. "The anger, the hatred, the bigotry that goes on in this country is getting to be outrageous. And unfortunately, Arizona I think has become sort of the capital. We have become the mecca for prejudice and bigotry."

“And today I want to tell you that I hope that all Americans are saddened and as shocked as we are. And I hope that some of them or most of them are as angry as I am and as a lot of us are. And I think it’s time as a country that we need to do a little soul searching. Because it’s the vitriolic rhetoric that we hear day in and day out from people in the radio business and some people in the tv business, and what we see on tv and how our youngsters are being raised. That this has not become the nice United States of America that most of us grew up in. And I think it’s time that we do the soul searching.”

I am going to draw on my own law enforcement experience here. On occasion, I have had microphones thrust into my face. On those occasions, one has to carefully measure one's words and stick to facts, not opinions. Today, while being interviewed by Fox News' Megyn Kelly, Dupnik again crossed the line into partisan politics. He talked about how "one party is doing everything they can to block the other party from making America a better place".

What does that have to do with this tragedy? If there is indeed a connection, that has not yet been shown. The sheriff is expressing opinions, not facts. Note that Kelly pinned him down and got him to admit that he did not have any facts to support his statement but was just stating his opinion.

If partisans like Keith Olbermann want to make a case for which there is no basis in fact, well, that's Keith. This is a guy who turns natural disasters into political issues. However, we expect more from our professional law enforcement officers who are making public statements about a case that the whole country is following closely. I hate to point this out, lest I engage in politics myself, but it is a documented fact that Dupnik is an active Democrat, who publicly condemned the Arizona immigration law. The man has an agenda. Forget the question of whether or not we agree with his agenda. It has no place in this issue. Did Sheriff Dupnik find a Republican party card in the suspect's wallet? Are there any facts to support what he is-at the very least-implying?

I can tell you from my own law enforcement experience that Sheriff Dupnik is acting unprofessionally by inserting his political opinions into the discussion and implying facts that are not proven. The one fact that we can assume from what we know is that the suspect has some sort of mental illness. At this point, there is nothing to tie him to conservative commentators, tea parties, blogs or anybody else.

Naturally, as we speak, Dupnik is being embraced by the liberal media and the left. That doesn't change the fact that he is acting unprofessionally and beyond the scope of his duties in the midst of this incident. My advice to Sheriff Dupnik is to keep to the facts as they come out. Leave the political arguments to the politicians, pundits, activists and commentators. The fact that they are jumping on this with both feet is bad enough. That the man the whole community and indeed country is looking to for leadership and results engages in this kind of speculation without presenting any evidence is just plain unprofessional and irresponsible. He is only adding to the emotion and division that he himself condemns.

The Arizona shootings were like Kwanzaa come early for America's liberal fascists

Jane Fonda Blames Giffords Shooting on Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck and the Tea Party

Hanoi Jane sitting on the gunner's seat of an anti-aircraft gun in Hanoi giving aid and comfort to the enemy.
Well, it didn't take long!  Commie Jane Fonda is off and running trying to push the blame on the right.

I've held her in disgust for about 40 years so this doesn't surprise me but it does reveal a pathetic side of her personality.  And her father was such a great actor.  There are a lot of people my age who think she should be in prison for treason but she escaped prosecution because of what we now call "political correctness."  At that time it was just seen as politically cool to be extremely stupid.

Alleged Shooter Jared Loughner May Have Met Rep. Giffords Previously Read

Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) and her husband Navy Capt. Mark Kelly.
What you won't see in the Main Stream Media or the left-wing blogosphere in the coming days:  Jared Loughner was clearly not right-wing or a Tea Party activist.  He also wasn't a member of the Democrat Party.  He was, from a cursory look at his internet postings on MySpace and YouTube, someone who is best described as being several cards shy of a full deck.  His favorite books are reported to be listed as The Communist Manifesto and Mein Kampf.  (No, they are not mutually exclusive but are actually close cousins politically.)  But watch and see how liberals work to spin this to achieve a political advantage and cast this as something from the right.  They do this because they know no shame.

Fil-Am who committed suicide negative for drugs

Was it a case of desperation or death before dishonor?
In what I initially viewed as a sad case there is now a new twist.  It seems that LCDR Scintar Mejia, USN, did not have drugs in his possession.  I can now imagine his complete and total despair at being accused of having drugs in his possession because he could clearly see that no matter the outcome of the investigation, his career in the United States Navy was clearly going to end.  When he arrived in Manila to visit his extended family he did so as one who is a hero.  He had not only done well in the United States but had become an officer in the military which was a most honorable accomplishment.  In his mind I'm certain that he could see that all that he had sacrificed for was being torn away from his grasp.  Instead of honor he was faced with guilt by suspicion at best or, at worst, dishonor and jail.

Was Mejia a drug user as confirmed by a post-mortem toxicology screen?  Was the sachet of powder in his bag, now known to be just powder and not a drug, a joke planted by a relative jealous of his accomplishments?  Was it placed there to take him down a notch or two from his perch of honor?  Or was it merely something slipped into the bag through slight of hand right there at the Manila airport with the idea of extracting a healthy bribe?  We will probably never know now that Mejia in a fit of total desperation threw himself into a stairwell thus ending what appears to have been a promising life.  Any of the above is a possibility but none of the above are certain.

Suicide is never easy to explain but in this case, it appears that the wrongful accusation of a poorly trained airport security inspector played a significant role.  I can only hope that the results of the investigation are fully aired.

Chief: Woburn cop slay like ‘wild west’

Officer down.
Another brother officer is down in the line of duty.  Another family looses a husband and father.  When the sound of gunfire erupted he ran towards it, not away, because it was his duty.  He didn't think twice about it.  He just did it knowing that St. Michael was there beside him.  Now he will age no more and he stands beside St. Michael ready again to battle evil.

Now that I'm retired I often think of those brothers-in-the-profession of mine who died in the line of duty.  I will never forget them.

Lone Police Officer in Mexican Border Town Remains Missing

Chief of Police Erika Gandara.  Very brave but very outgunned.
I was most critical of El Presidente Felipe "Too Short" Calderon earlier year when he had the extreme gall to come to the United States and criticize Arizona for its efforts to control its common border with Mexico.  At the time I strongly suggested that he clean-up his own litter box before trying to tell us how to run our nation.  He clearly hasn't done so either because he is inept or because he would rather maintain the status quo.  He of course is comfortable, safe, rich and far removed from the daily violence that sparked Arizona's legislative action.  Far removed from anything but the money that flows into Mexico via remittances from the illegal alien Mexicans working in the United States.

Now we have a situation in Mexico that hasn't turned out like all the movies Hollywood has made.  You know what I mean.  The movies where the hero/heroine takes a stand and faces down the bad guys bringing law and order to the poor citizens of some unnamed, dusty western town.  Hollywood's suspension of reality allows us to watch such a movie where the villains can't shoot straight and the good guys never miss and believe it could be real.  Reality, unfortunately, is that a lone police officer stands little chance of defeating determined evil especially if evil is backed by a dozen or so killers armed to the teeth.

Erika Gandara, Chief of Police of the small Mexican border town of Guadalupe, is a very brave young lady.  She was willing to take a job that men in her community ran from not because they were necessarily cowards but because they knew the reality of their situation and had families to worry about.  She was willing to put her life on the line for the ideal of bringing peace, law and order to her community in the face of a very determined and very evil Mexican criminal element bent on trafficking drugs on their own terms.  In Mexico that is the reality and "Too Short" is short not only in stature but in any ability to control crime in the country that elected him el presidente.  It's a shame that Mexico, a beautiful country populated with wonderful people, has suffered from successive failures in leadership in the central government.  The people there deserve much better than they are getting and they know it.  That is why so many undertake the perilous trek north into the United States where their future is uncertain but also where they know there is, at least, some safety and justice.  If their entry wasn't unlawful I would feel for them; but the reality of the situation is that it is their own government--you know, the one led by "Too Short" Calderon--that drives them from their homes through its abject failure to provide for their security.  And it seems that the government of Mexico is in no hurry to change things because those who come here as illegal aliens send dollars back to their families in Mexico that eventually winds up in the bank accounts of the Mexican elite.  It is, you might say, financially beneficial if things remain as they are.

Police Chief Gandara's whereabouts is unknown as is her fate.  The reality of the situation, again unlike Hollywood's movies, is most grim.  We should all pray for her.  I know I shall.  But if the worst becomes reality, the blood of this heroine is on the hands of El Presidente Calderon just as surely as it is on the hands of men who took her at gunpoint and burned her home.

The Ugly Reality of Islam

Islam is violent.  Otherwise there would be no problem.

Harry Potter Actress Beaten and Branded a Prostitute by Her Family After Dating a Non-Muslim

I am told time and again that Islam is peaceful and those who are using it to justify any violence other than self-defense are violating the Koran. Yet the linked story is all too common. The violence of "honor killings"--how can any murder be honorable?--is all too common as is the terrorism against Muslims and non-Muslims alike. So how can a religion that continues to allow, and even give tacit approval to such actions, be termed "peaceful?" How can any religion that allows itself to justify slavery of non-adherents to that religion as is documented in Sudan be called just?

The answer is, of course: It can't. There are Muslims who are peaceful but they are clearly afraid to stand-up and shout in the face of the unthinking violence of their religious brethren. Which gives rise to another question: If, as we are told by the intelligentsia, those who are violent are only 10% of the 1 billion+ Muslims in the world, why are the overwhelming majority afraid to make that minority which espouses violence outcasts? That would surely happen in the Christian world so why not in the Muslim umma? The question is, on retrospect, almost rhetorical. While some, note only "some," of the alleged 90% are truly peaceful and willing to let others worship as they wish, the rest are secretly pleased that "their side" is advancing even if they don't necessarily agree with the violence. In other words, they don't directly approve of it, but they won't stop it.

A case in point is the recent case in Baltimore, Maryland, where an FBI sting operation resulted in the arrest of a young jihadi who wished to blow-up a military recruiting center. The jihadi tried to enlist the cooperation of 3 of his Muslim friends and only one of the friends tried to talk him out of it. When he approached the 4th friend that American went to the FBI and the budding terrorist was caught before he could fulfill his jihad. Think about it for a second. Only 1 of 4 American Muslims did what is expected of any American citizen.

The linked report is no less egregious. An internationally known actress who would appear to be from a upscale and modern thinking Muslim family in England (because, after all, they did let her appear in an internationally known and viewed movie about witches and wizards) is in fear for her life for the apparently unforgivable sin of dating a non-Muslim. There is an evil, it seems, in the hearts of her family and she is now in hiding because of a beating by her father and death threats that involve both the father and the brother. She is in hiding because her father is now demanding that she enter into a marriage he arranged with a Muslim. She is in hiding because our British cousins find themselves totally hobbled by political correctness run amuck and are unable to protect her should she appear to give evidence against her father and brother. It is then, an unfortunate case where both Islam and Christianity have failed the young lady. Islam because it allows such barbarity that could not exist without a nod and a wink from the religious hierarchy; and, Christianity because it has turned a blind eye out of a desire to be inclusive of all thus ignores the problem and does not take stern action--at least in England.

America, I'm afraid, is no less guilty as there have been honor killings here. Two young Muslim girls were allegedly murdered by their father in Texas for "being too westernized" as was a young girl in Arizona for the same inane reason. And another Muslim man in upstate New York allegedly killed and decapitated his wife over "honor" because she wanted a divorce.

Is it any wonder that Americans are uncomfortable with Islam? This is clearly represented by the efforts of some states to forbid the use of shari'ah law in their own courts and the strident opposition to the Ground Zero Mosque in lower Manhattan. The ball is in the umma's court. Islam can only be changed from within and that will only happen if the umma can subdue the barbarians who are in control.

Hubert Webb's Press Conference - Genuine Justice at Last!

Free at last!
It was an early Christmas for the Webb family and for all who believe in justice.

Some 15 years ago Hubert Webb, the son of former Philippine Senator Freddie Webb, was convicted in court for his involvement in the notorious Vizconde Massacre in the Philippines.  For those of us who were in the Philippines and familiar with the case, it was a conviction based not on fact or evidence but on the exploitive media who convicted Webb in the court of public opinion long before he ever sat down before the bar of justice...or what was supposed to be a bar of justice.

My long time and trusted friend, Retired FBI Special Agent Bob Heafner, will be most pleased with this Philippine Supreme Court decision.  Bob had handled all the US leads in the case as the LEGATT (Embassy-speak for "Legal Attaché") in Manila during the investigation by the Philippine National Bureau of Investigation and the Philippine National Police.  The FBI's work on the case proved beyond any doubt that young Hubert Webb was in the United States at the time of the murder; but their evidence was not allowed to be presented in the court by the sitting judge, a woman whose name escapes me at the moment but who clearly deserves to be forgotten in the dustbins of history.  Why wasn't the FBI's evidence allowed, you ask?  Because the learned (???) judge ruled that the U.S. Secretary of State was not there in court to testify to its veracity.  The judge, clearly predetermined to find the defendant guilty, set the standard for the introduction of the FBI's evidence irrationally and impossibly high.  Higher than the international norm--the evidence was presented with the appropriate seal of the United States and attested to by the U.S. State Department which is normal--and clearly so high as to prevent its introduction as evidence.  Other than the tabloid--actually it was so bad that it is almost an insult to real tabloid papers to use that descriptive term--journalism which had already convicted Webb, we may never know exactly why the judge was so determined to prevent any exculpatory evidence from being introduced in this case.  We--and I use this as inclusive of all the U.S. law enforcement officers at the U.S. Embassy--had our suspicions and even had a couple of phone calls from informants telling us who was behind the frame-up but we had no proof nor did we have the authority to investigate it.  It was, after all, a matter on the internal affairs of the Republic of the Philippines and we could only assist as requested by Philippine authorities.  Suffice it to say that then Senator Freddie Webb, Hubert's father, had previously embarrassed numerous personalities in the Philippines, some with a significant amount of power and wealth, with his Senate hearings on a drug case, a 5,000 kilogram methaqualone seizure, which I handled as the DEA Country Attaché.  Could it have been revenge?  Quite likely but absent a death bed confession by the real killers or someone who was behind framing young Hubert, we'll never know.

Today, however, I am smiling.  The Philippine Supreme Court ruled, as lawyer friends in the Philippines had always assured me it would, wisely and correctly if but slowly.  I consider this ruling a wonderful personal Christmas present, as I'm sure does Bob Heafner, for the satisfaction that I feel in finally seeing justice done.  I am sure that the happy impact of this pre-Christmas ruling on the Webb family is greater than any of us can imagine.

What still troubles me is that the trail of the actual murderers is now ice cold.  The authorities at the time took (read "were directed to") the easy and popular route and any evidence that didn't point to Webb, et al., was discarded and is now lost.  This means that the father who lost his family, Lauro Vizconde, will most likely never see the real killers brought to justice.  It also means that those killers have been free to rape and kill again all this time.  Mr. Vizconde should be in our prayers this holiday season as his loss was even greater than the injustice suffered by Hubert.  (It should be noted that Mr. Vizconde remains absolutely convinced that it was Webb, et al., who murdered his wife and two daughters.  I attribute this to the horrendous publicity of the time and that which he was told by Philippine officials in support of their case theory which played heavily on his emotional state.)  For Lauro Vizconde I am truly sad.

As for Hubert, all I can say is Merry Christmas!  You deserve it.

As a matter of disclosure, as the Country Attaché for DEA at the U.S. Embassy in Manila I did work with then Senator Webb on drug issues and grew to like and respect him.  We've not been in contact for over a decade, but I've no doubt that a terrible weight has finally been lifted off his shoulders.  God Bless you and your family this Christmas, Freddie.  I'm sure that it will be a great celebration.

Hamilton Police shooting video

Police Dash-Cam Video

Sometimes our Guardian Angel has to work overtime. In this case the now-deceased "I-wanna-be-a-cop-killer" traffic violator had obviously fired his gun once before then opened the cylinder and closed it in such a way that the next round would be the already fired chamber. That "mistake" saved the life of this officer.

We can Monday Morning Quarterback with the officer's actions all we want but all in all he did his job very well. After having a weapon thrust into his face with a simultaneous pulling of the trigger accompanied by that ominous CLICK! of the hammer falling--enough to get anybody's fascinated attention--the officer recovered quickly, moved to make the subject's next shot harder and drew his own weapon in response. While I'm not saying that there are no lessons to be learned, I find no fault with what the officer did as he accomplished the most important mission of his shift that night: He went home safely to his family.

Black Farmer Blows Whistle on Pigford: ‘If You Got a Potted Plant, That Makes You a Farmer’

And even if it was, we have our guy in charge at the Department of Justice.
Black Farmer Blows Whistle on Pigford: "If You Got a Potted Plant, That Makes You a Farmer"

I've not written before on Pigford because it's so vast that it's hard to understand at first. Suffice to say that the amount of fraud in the Pigford makes Bernie Madoff look like small fry. And guess what? Obama and his Regime are aiding and abetting it.
