Fast, furious and wrong: Obama administration faces outrage over guns in Mexico

Our Founding Fathers included the 2nd Amendment in the Bill of Rights for sound historical reasons as well as to ensure that the God-given, thus unalienable, right of self-defense was clearly protected. Without the Bill of Rights, the Constitution would never have been ratified and our nation would have quickly devolved to tyranny. Despite the protections set forth in that the basis of all our laws, there have been those who disagreed with those protections and who since its ratification have been bent on the destruction of the Constitution as envisioned by the Founders. Through history they have been called by different names and now they use the sobriquet of "Progressive" even though the policies they support are entirely regressive in nature. We must always be watchful of their actions for while their words drip with sweet concern for mankind, the sweetness conceals poisons intended to destroy our liberty.

In this case we have a perfect example of such words. The president speaks of wanting to ensure that criminals in Mexico do not have access to weapons from America but it is not the criminals that are restricted or punished with increased bureaucratic red tape but the law-abiding citizen. That this Regime could see fit to send guns illegally to Mexico then use the fact that those guns were used in crimes in Mexico to justify additional gun control measures to limit the right of Americans to keep and bear arms is an unconscionable assault on our Constitution and our liberty. We must call for the removal, and if necessary the impeachment, of those involved in the act and in the cover-up that is ongoing. 

History shows us that tyranny begins with movements to disarm the citizenry for its own good. We are told time and again that the central government only wants what is best for all and to ensure that all are protected we must surrender our right to self defense and rely on the state for protection. The truth of the matter is that there is no safety in the state. It cannot be relied upon to be there when we are in personal danger for when seconds count, help is truly minutes away. The truth is that only law abiding citizens comply with such laws which gives the criminal class complete freedom to exercise its depredations with impunity. The truth is that the primary distinction between a free man and a slave is the right to bear arms yet there are those who choose slavery thinking that it will make them free.

Lone Police Officer in Mexican Border Town Remains Missing

I was most critical of El Presidente Felipe "Too Short" Calderon earlier year when he had the extreme gall to come to the United States and criticize Arizona for its efforts to control its common border with Mexico.  At the time I strongly suggested that he clean-up his own litter box before trying to tell us how to run our nation.  He clearly hasn't done so either because he is inept or because he would rather maintain the status quo.  He of course is comfortable, safe, rich and far removed from the daily violence that sparked Arizona's legislative action.  Far removed from anything but the money that flows into Mexico via remittances from the illegal alien Mexicans working in the United States.

Now we have a situation in Mexico that hasn't turned out like all the movies Hollywood has made.  You know what I mean.  The movies where the hero/heroine takes a stand and faces down the bad guys bringing law and order to the poor citizens of some unnamed, dusty western town.  Hollywood's suspension of reality allows us to watch such a movie where the villains can't shoot straight and the good guys never miss and believe it could be real.  Reality, unfortunately, is that a lone police officer stands little chance of defeating determined evil especially if evil is backed by a dozen or so killers armed to the teeth.

Erika Gandara, Chief of Police of the small Mexican border town of Guadalupe, is a very brave young lady.  She was willing to take a job that men in her community ran from not because they were necessarily cowards but because they knew the reality of their situation and had families to worry about.  She was willing to put her life on the line for the ideal of bringing peace, law and order to her community in the face of a very determined and very evil Mexican criminal element bent on trafficking drugs on their own terms.  In Mexico that is the reality and "Too Short" is short not only in stature but in any ability to control crime in the country that elected him el presidente.  It's a shame that Mexico, a beautiful country populated with wonderful people, has suffered from successive failures in leadership in the central government.  The people there deserve much better than they are getting and they know it.  That is why so many undertake the perilous trek north into the United States where their future is uncertain but also where they know there is, at least, some safety and justice.  If their entry wasn't unlawful I would feel for them; but the reality of the situation is that it is their own government--you know, the one led by "Too Short" Calderon--that drives them from their homes through its abject failure to provide for their security.  And it seems that the government of Mexico is in no hurry to change things because those who come here as illegal aliens send dollars back to their families in Mexico that eventually winds up in the bank accounts of the Mexican elite.  It is, you might say, financially beneficial if things remain as they are.

Police Chief Gandara's whereabouts is unknown as is her fate.  The reality of the situation, again unlike Hollywood's movies, is most grim.  We should all pray for her.  I know I shall.  But if the worst becomes reality, the blood of this heroine is on the hands of El Presidente Calderon just as surely as it is on the hands of men who took her at gunpoint and burned her home.

U.S. Tourist Calls on Obama to Step up Search for Husband's Body in Alleged Mexican Pirate Attack

This picture pretty much shows the results of Obama's policies on the Southern border.

Having spent more than a couple of decades in law enforcement I am always reticent about making comments when it comes to on-going investigations. To often there are facts that are not known to the public and not reported and investigators need the time to do their work. In this case, however, there appears to be no on-going investigation by the Mexican authorities so I feel free to have at it.

I am familiar with the area around Zapata and Falcon Lake. I was in Laredo, Texas, as the Resident Agent in Charge of the DEA Office for just over two years back in 1988 to 1991 and remember the area fondly for more than a couple of reasons. I worked with some outstanding law enforcement officers Laredo, some of which I consider to be almost legendary, but saw little to be impressed with in Nuevo Laredo. It was common to see really nice pick-up trucks, the locals called them “Mexican Cadillacs,” being driven around Nuevo Laredo and more than a couple were vehicles stolen in Laredo and driven into Mexico. Did I mention they were being driven by Mexican cops? Oh, sorry. I thought you knew that already.

The problem wasn’t with communications between the cops in Laredo and Mexico. Tex-Mex was, and is, spoken fluently on both sides of the border. The problem was that Mexico, in operating as a sovereign nation, delights in stonewalling inquiries from its northern neighbor. On their side of the border it is considered a badge of honor to have it known that you have told the Norté Americanos to, in police terminology, “pack sand” when it came to a criminal inquiry. In the present case it doesn’t appear that anything has improved in the 20 years since I left Laredo. Like their diminutive joke of a Presidenté, the studied incompetent arrogance is palpable south of the border.

My heart goes out to the family of Michael Hartley. From the statement by his wife that I saw on TV it is clear that he was murdered by a Mexican gang operating on Falcon Lake. For those of you not familiar with the area it is a big lake but has been a law enforcement problem for years. Smugglers abound and to venture on the lake at night is risky even if you’re well armed. Additionally, the Mexican government takes immediate umbrage over any accidental infringement into their waters but has historically turned a blind eye towards the cross-border criminal activities of Mexican nationals on the water. With the recent near collapse of any law enforcement authority in Mexico, coupled with the clear abdication of the Obama Regime of American sovereignty along the southern border, the security situation certainly has not improved. Except, of course, for Mexican police officers looking to increase their own bank accounts.

I do wish that Texas could, as they did once before, send a company or two of Texas Rangers to the border to quell the lawlessness but we know that in the 21st century that won’t happen. Instead the Hartley family will grieve, Federal officials with pass the buck, local law enforcement will be frustrated and the Mexican government will shrug its collective shoulders and say, “No blood, no foul, Señor. We cannot find a body so maybe it didn’t happen.”

Maybe we should completely close the border until they find the body and arrest the perpetrators. Ahhhhh...but that would require a sense of patriotism which we know doesn’t exist in the White House today, and some collective cajones.

Mexico Joins Suit Against Arizona's Immigration Law, Citing 'Grave Concerns'

Ok, Presidenté Calderon, it's not all that hard to understand this map. 

I, too, have grave concerns but strictly about the inability of Mexico to respect the sovereignty of the United States. I remember when I was assigned with DEA in Laredo, Texas, in the late 1980’s there were several occasions where uniformed Border Patrol Agents on the U.S. side of the Rio Grande were fired upon by uniformed, but unidentified, individuals standing in Mexico. On at least one of these occasions the bullets were close enough that the Border Patrol Agents, acting in their own self-defense, returned fire so that their assailants would have to take cover which would allow them time to get to safety further away from the banks of the river. The very next day the Mexican Consul in Laredo was lodging a loud and strident protest that Americans had fired weapons into Mexico. When told that they were returning fire at people who were shooting at them he refused to accept the complaint insisting only that Mexican sovereignty had been violated. The professional law enforcement officers in Laredo at the local, state and federal levels all viewed that Consul, an official of the Mexican government, with disgust. He clearly was either stupid or in the pay of the criminals but what he did was with the approval of the central Mexican government and reflected their policy not his own.

So now Mexico has decided to sue Arizona in U.S. Courts as a result of the Arizona law. Total chutzpah that, but it is in line with the thinking south of the border especially now that they see a President in the U.S. that favors open borders. The problem is that they are using the U.S. Court system, something we cannot do in Mexico, to sue a state government. The gut reaction of most Americans to this is absolute anger so on one level it was a stupid decision by the Mexican government. Nothing new in that, but clearly this will not calm down the feelings of Americans who feel besieged in their own country. Instead, it will increase the anger of We the People towards our neighbors to the south which really isn’t a good thing for either country. I think that floating around in the small, twisted mind of the dwarfish Mexican leader Calderon, is the idea that the Norté Americanos will always have Obama as a ruler, or at least one just like him, and that Obama’s decisions will not be rolled-back. That such an idea is stupid is obvious. That it flourishes in small-minded politicians who are used to making money with their hands out for any money offered is clear. The last thing that the Mexicans want is a stop to the illegal immigrants and drugs going north and the money going south and they’ll do and say anything they can to keep the human and drug smuggling enterprises intact.

One solution that would help is reciprocity. Reciprocity has long been used in diplomatic circles as a way to ensure that each nation is given the same respect and treatment as each other nation with which it has diplomatic relations. It’s actually very simple: What you do to our diplomats we do to yours. If you restrict the travel of our diplomats we restrict the travel of yours. If you restrict the housing of our diplomats we restrict the housing of yours. A very simple practice that keeps relationships between nations, at least at a diplomatic level, equal.

Maybe it’s time to put reciprocity into practice in our relationship with Mexico. We can start with property rights and should immediately notify the Mexican government that as American citizens cannot buy ocean front property in Mexico, Mexican citizens may not own ocean front property in the U.S. and have 90 days to dispose of any that they have. After all, our government through Fannie and Freddie has been helping illegal immigrants, with a purposeful "blind eye" towards their immigration status, to achieve the American dream for years so they should do the same or lose the privilege.

When it comes to political activity, Americans, on pain of criminal prosecution, jail time and deportation, are not allowed to protest political actions by the Mexican government in Mexico. We need to do the same to any Mexican national who dares to protest on our streets carrying a Mexican, or any other, flag. They should be arrested, jailed and deported in the exact same manner as what the Mexican government would do if Americans protested in Mexico City. Seem fair, does it not?

On the crime front, Mexican officials facilitate the smuggling of drugs to Mexico. We should reciprocate with a reduction in aid going south to Mexico commensurate with the value of the drugs going north. Seems right to me and, I am sure, most other Americans. I mean, we’re not about to require our officials to become corrupt and take bribes just to facilitate criminal activity going south of the border as they do with the criminal activity coming north so the only way to address it is with aid.

Also, if Mexico does not want its citizens arrested and deported when they travel north in violation of our law, then they must allow American citizens to go south and work at will in Mexico, living, having anchor babies, starting small businesses and sending profits back to the United States. And any Mexican policeman who dares to stop a Norté Americano because of their nice clothes, good shoes and fair skin should be immediately pilloried in the Mexican press, fired from his position and jailed for racial discrimination, profiling and a violation of human rights. And his superiors should be liable to a civil lawsuit where they will have to pay damages and fines. That’s what they want here so they should offer it there, right?

Good ideas, right? You can bet neither government will think so. Unfortunately, if reciprocity such as this is mentioned, government officials on both sides of the border pale. Reciprocity, you see, is something that is reserved for diplomats and cannot be extended to all citizens. To do so is just...just...unthinkable!

But why not? Especially when the current system works to the detriment of U.S. citizens in their own country. Especially when Americans are being held hostage to violence exported from south of the border.

And Felipé, step up on a foot stool and look at the picture above closely. It shows you a map of your country (the green one) and a map of the country that belongs to We the People. Study the map, Senõr Calderon. We’re getting tired of you thinking that what is ours is yours.

I was told long ago that my first duty was to be sure to be able to go home at the end of the day. As the instructor at the DEA Academy told me and my fellow Basic Agent students back in 1978, the government was spending a lot of money training us and our families needed us so taking unnecessary risks was wrong on several levels. I adhered to that piece of advice and, when I became a supervisor, strived to ensure that the people under me adhered to it as well. The job had its moments however but despite some very fascinating times, I and those in my charge always got home safely because we planned it that way and, oft times, we were just plain lucky. Some of my friends were not so lucky. The announcements of their deaths in the line of duty were always time for reflection on them, their lives and their families and the job.

The point made in the linked opinion piece is extremely valid. The public sends men and women out to stand guard, many times in the dark of night in lonely places, with little more than a radio, a weapon and a partner. The criminals they face are not always 25 years old. Some are teenagers like the boy killed while trying to bash in the head of the Border Patrol Agent with a thrown rock. What I disagree with in this case is that everyone is looking at the U.S. Border Patrol, the Department of Justice and the United States for answers and corrections when both the answers and corrections lie south of the U.S.-Mexican border. If the Mexican government was providing the proper environment for business in Mexico there would be jobs and growth in that country. If the Mexican government were protecting the rights of the people rather than exploiting them, there wouldn't be the tremendous exodus from Mexico along our southern border. The problem lies with the Mexican government and not with the United States. The people are fleeing north looking for jobs and opportunity. It causes problems for us but we are not the cause for that lies squarely in the lap of the Mexican government.

The teenager that died in the shooting was well on his way to "career criminal" status. He was not the happy, baseball-loving, loyal, obedient son as his parents would now present him to the press. Despite his young age, he was a budding criminal, preying on people who only wanted help sneaking into the United States. He was allowed to operate on the Mexican side of the border by Mexican officials who do all they can to facilitate the smuggling of humans into the United States. He had already been arrested on several occasions and, because of his age, sent back to Mexico without even a slap on the wrist. His blood is on the hands of the Mexican officials who turn a blind eye to human smuggling. His blood is on the hands of Felipe Calderon. 

Felipe Calderon should fix his own country first before trying to tell the United States how to run ours.

The illegal immigrant issue is not going to go away. It is a wound that we keep digging at so the scab can't even form. Our Federal Government has miserably failed We the People in one of its most important Constitutional charges: Keeping our borders secure and safe. The Bush Administration tried to address the situation through a proposal that was tantamount to amnesty but was hamstrung by an immediate outcry from We the People. The Obama Regime, which believes in open borders, has a proven disregard for the will of We the People and has shown complete disdain for the Federal responsibility of securing the nation's borders. The dispatch of 1,200 National Guard troops to the border by Obama is actually a politically motivated insult to all the border states. The number of National Guardsmen are too few in number to make a difference but you can bet that between now and November that number will be repeated many times as proof that the Regime is doing something.

Yes, they are doing something. Nothing is something when it comes to illegal immigration and that's what they want to do. The reasons for their actions are numerous but all point towards the creation of a permanent underclass in the United States that can be counted on to vote reliably "Democrat" as long as they are promised that nothing will be done to them.

Nothing is also what the Regime wants Arizona to do. As the Federal Government has abrogated its responsibility and has clearly no intention of dealing with the problem in a meaningful way, it wants Arizona to turn a blind eye to the illegal immigrant problem as well. Pay no attention to the fact that violence funded by the Mexican cartels that rule Mexico is spilling over the border. Pay no attention to the crime rate in Phoenix that makes it the kidnapping capital of the United States. And what ever you do, pay no attention to the community organizers registering voters from Latino neighborhoods as fast as they can and regardless of true citizenship.

It's time to take back America. It's time to tell people, like our elected representatives, that We the People are fed up and demand action. It's time to make this November count.

More on Felipe Calderon, Presidente of Mexico, supporter of open-border Neo-Libs, friend of Obama the Prevaricator and a talented prevaricator in his own right. I've already blogged my opinion of this man and his inability to read maps and have even posted a very simple map for him to read.

Maybe we should begin enforcing the doctrine of reciprocity with the Mexicans. We will do exactly to a Mexican national what they do to a U.S. national for the same offense. Sounds like a great idea? It would be if we had the prison space because I am sure that the small-minded politicians south of the border would be unwilling to change their draconian laws.

To all who watched the debacle the message was clear: We hate the United States.

That's the only conclusion that can be drawn after seeing a standing ovation for a two-bit, tin-pot head of state who had just insulted and slammed one of the United States, Arizona, while standing before a joint session of Congress. The crass, ignorant and highly politicized ovation was clear evidence that the left side of the aisle has no respect for America or Americans. They are clearly uncomfortable with the United States being an independent nation and the leader of the free world. They would rather that we were like all the other near-do-well nations in the world with a socialist government system and a compliant underclass to serve the needs of the political, and need I say rich, ruling elite. They have ceased to honor our nation and the sacrifices of those who built it. Instead they honor only their party, the Democrat Party, and their regime, The Obama Regime. I have never seen a more insipid and dishonorable act in my entire life although they have existed in history. Benedict Arnold was bolder and more honorable in his treason than are those who stood and applauded Mexican Presidente Felipe Calderon. If politicians were capable of shame, I would shout it to their faces. But these people, these pretenders to honor, have no conscience and no shame. They only have ambition to power.

The Audacity of Hypocrisy

Presidente Felipe Calderon would do well remember that the liberals will not be in power forever and we Conservatives will long remember the insults he has hurled at our country.  I am sure that he was at least indirectly coached by the Obama Regime and given assurances that a verbal attack on the Arizona law would be well received.  He must have, for his highly hypocritical remarks followed the Arizona talking points of the Regime and its acolytes:  the Neo-Libs.  It is appalling that he is ignorant enough to believe, however, that like Mexico, in the United States the political class is perpetual or that the American people will meekly accept criticism from a Third World leader who is more concerned with protecting the status quo (i.e. ensuring the rich get richer and the poor stay that way) than with solving the problems of his own country.  Calderon has been described as "honest" in comparison to his predecessor, Vicente Fox, but that is arguable and I'm sure that his successor will be described as "honest" in comparison to Calderon.

There is, of course, a baser motive behind the his bald lie of a statement.  The remittances sent by both legal and illegal Mexicans back to Mexico are in the $22 Billion--yes that's with a "B"--a year range.  That means that the export of Mexican citizens to the United States is the second largest legal money earner for Mexico after their oil.  I stress legal because the illegal drug and human smuggling trades bring in even more money but, unlike remittances, that money is harder for the Mexican upper class to get control of an add to their own bank accounts.  And that it precisely the reason that Calderon is in power: to ensure that the upper class continues to get richer at the expense of the underclass.  (The underclass is a continual problem because they can't let the underclass become a middle class or they'd lose their primary source of maids, drivers and expendable pistoleros.)

Speaking of pistoleros, the crass appeal for American gun control to the Neo-Libs sitting in Congress brought an enthusiastic and obligatory standing ovation from the Democrats (it seemed to be so well-scripted that I wondered if all the Democrats met before hand and practiced) and was also from President Obama's political talking points.  We all know that Obama would like nothing better than to abrogate the 2nd Amendment and is continually trying to set up a way to do it without appearing to do so.  The truth of the matter is that the fully automatic weapons and assault weapons that are favored by the drug traffickers in Mexico don't come from the U.S.  They come from the Mexican Army and other sources in both Latin America and the Far East.  Calderon knows that but it's more of a "you scratch my back by condemning the gun trade and I'll scratch yours by condemning Arizona" from his friend Barack.  Besides, his inability to address the violence in Mexico is causing him internal headaches so it is good he can appear macho on Mexican TV by criticizing the gringo Norte Americanos in their own house.  

The Alamo, which led to the Battle of San Jacinto and settled the question of the Mexican control over Texas or any other part of the United States.  Do you remember this from your studies, Felipe?

Calderon would do well to clean up the mess in Mexico before criticizing the United States.  Unfortunately he still is unable to read the map properly--probably a result of the reconquista lessons that are taught in Mexican schools.  But for his edification I'll once again post a map for him to study.

Now please pay attention, Felipe.  Study the map below.  It is not difficult to understand and if you look at it long enough maybe you'll actually learn something.

Students Kicked Off Campus for Wearing American Flag To School

In my life I've seen and experience stupid.  But the teachers and administration at Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill, California, have taken it to a new level.  To paraphrase Forrest Gump, "Stupid is as Live Oak High does."  This is what happens when you let multiculteralism and political correctness reign supreme.

For a student to be denied the right to display the American flag on any day of the school year in deference to another flag is the most asinine and blatantly un-American thing I've ever heard.  If I were a parent in Morgan Hill, I would be asking for a complete turnover of staff there.  It would be better to school your children at home than send them to a school like this and I would encourage the students to file a lawsuit against the school.

As for the student that said she was being "disrespected" because Americans would dare to wear an American Flag on Cinco de Mayo, I would advise her to use her time in school to learn proper English.  Respect is earned.  It is not a right.  And Cinco de Mayo is not an American holiday.  It is a holiday celebrating the Mexican defeat of the French who were governing under an Austrian dictator.  Hello?  Beating the French in war is no great accomplishment but considering Mexico's current reputation and government under Calderon, that may be their greatest achievement.

The "threat" is not to Hispanic-Americans at all. It is a threat to those who profit from the business of smuggling Hispanics and others into the United States across the southern border through the actual smuggling of aliens into the United States and through the remittances that are sent back to their families in Mexico. Calderon is one of the biggest hypocrites in the Western Hemisphere (and considering the number of Democrats in the U.S. Congress that's saying something!) because he has done nothing to provide opportunity for the citizens of his own country. Corrupt Mexicans officials and the corrupt Mexican government profit heavily from the money sent home to relatives by illegal immigrants so his anger is not about the people but about a possible loss of money. And of course there is the Reconquista Movement that encourages Mexicans to believe that large swaths of the United States (such as California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas) can be returned to Mexico if they can only get enough Mexican citizens living there. (Fat chance that, but maybe we could make a deal for California alone. They'd have to take San Francisco just as it is today and promise to put up with their idiocy without trying to deport any of them. But, naw, they'd never be stupid enough to take that deal.)

So once again I'll put the map up for Presidente Calderon to remind him of his area of responsibility in hopes that he will actually do something for the people there other than let his corrupt government steal from them. You can read maps, can't you Felipe?

No matter how hard you try, you cannot be more hypocritical than Mexican President Felipe Calderon. The Mexican government does nothing for it's own citizens, treats visitors with contempt, has draconian laws to handle its own immigration issues and corrupt officials who happily get rich through mordida at every opportunity. And we haven't even started talking about the drugs.  Calderon needs to either memorize the above map or copy it down if that's beyond his capability.

NYT/CBS slant poll question, but people still support Arizona law | Washington Examiner

Does it surprise anyone that the New York Slime and the Central BS network would attempt to rig a poll to ensure that their liberal-progressive-socialist slant was supported? No? I didn't think so, but I had to ask.

The Arizona law is neither an onerous intrusion on civil rights or racially motivated. The same practices that are stipulated in the Arizona law have been in part of life in Prince William Country, Virginia, right outside Washington, DC, for over a year and, guess what? No civil rights violations by racist police. No lawsuits claiming illegal arrests. And to top it all off, the fast food industry is still functioning without a problem. Yes, there have been more immigration holds placed on people with whom the police have come into lawful contact but when you think of it, that's how it should be. Police should enforce the law and not be forced to ignore it.

Mayor Rudy Giuliani (Remember him? The last competent mayor of New York City?) proved the importance of having the police enforce the law. He knew that when you allow the law to be broken and when the public sees uniformed law enforcement officers ignoring petty violations of the law, respect for the law collapses and you have a rise in petty crime. With the rise in petty crime the true criminals, emboldened by police inaction, come out of the woodwork and you have a corresponding rise in serious crime. When he took office New York's crime rate was high as a result of years of liberal mayors "encouraging" police restraint so he ordered the police to get back in the game and attack the petty crime. The initial shock of receiving a citation for jaywalking or any of the other myriad small infractions hit the city hard and people were screaming about it being unfair and how the Mayor was creating a fascist state. But, lo and behold, the crime rate started dropping and New York became safer. Safer, that is, until emboldened by 8 years of liberal-progressive-socialist softness on international terrorism, Islamo-fascists seized control of passenger aircraft and turned them into weapons of mass destruction on 9/11.

The same rules apply to the Arizona law. It doesn't go beyond what Federal immigration law already requires. There are no "extras" required of legal residents or citizens. It only requires that if local officers, in the course of performing their regular duties, encounter someone who cannot identify themselves properly then they will ensure that the person is legally in the U.S. by contacting ICE. It's not onerous. It's not a seizure of individual freedom (if it was Obama would certainly support it!). It is what we should expect of our law enforcement officials as they perform their duties.

And for you liberals out there, if you're boycotting Arizona Ice Tea, I'm sure you feel very proud of yourself. Just be aware that it is, and always has been, a company that is headquartered in New York. The only thing that's from Arizona about it is the name. But, in your alternate intellectual universe I'm sure that's sufficient.

The Deputy involved will live and now we know that the wound was superficial. That the attackers were drug smugglers and, no doubt, illegally in the United States, focuses the problem that the federal government has let fester for way too long. Is it any wonder that the State of Arizona took steps to address the problem? And when you actually read the law, it is perfectly clear that they did so within the bounds of the Constitution.

Now I know that you have heard immigrant activists and the Left Stream Media bloviating about how the Arizona law in unconstitutional but it is clear to me that they haven't actually read or studied the Constitution and that they believe it says only what they want it to say. Arizona did not preempt the federal government. Arizona did not write new immigration law. Arizona did say that they would ensure that current federal law would be enforced in the State of Arizona.

If the liberal-progressive-socialist Democrats currently in Congress have a problem with that, let them step-up to the plate and do something constructive to solve the illegal immigrant problem in the halls of Congress. They won't, of course, because the illegal immigrants fit perfectly in their plan for a permanent underclass which can be used again and again for political purposes.  Plus, they are a source for cheap labor.

And I would recommend that Presidente Calderon actually do something about the conditions in his own country that force people to cross the Rio Grande in search of freedom and food. The blood on the border is a direct result of the corruption in Mexico and that corruption is a result of the Mexican government's failure to take care of their citizens.  And as for the reconquista movement that the Mexican government quietly supports and encourages, they can take it an put it in that dank, dark place where it belongs.

How Obama could lose Arizona immigration battle | Washington Examiner

It is hard to stomach the lies told about Arizona's new law allowing state and local law enforcement officers to delve into the status of people suspected to be illegal aliens and those told by President Obama are at the head of the list. We have a right to expect more truth from our President than he has, thus far, given us. I'm now convinced that Obama has a serious aversion to the truth for his rhetoric reference Arizona's law is as ludicrous as it is asinine. If you want to see how the Arizona law works you don't have to go to the Southwest and stand in the desert. Just go to Prince William County, Virginia, where the County Commissioners passed a similar law over a year ago. Since that time local officers making lawful contact with individuals have been checking on the citizenship status and turning illegal aliens over to ICE. It hasn't resulted in racial profiling. It hasn't resulted in unlawful detentions. It has, however, resulted in illegal aliens moving out of the county to other areas that don't seem to worry about illegal immigration and this has greatly relieved the stress on the Prince William County School System and other social services. And despite the wails of those who say that illegal immigrants are here to take jobs that Americans don't want there has been no shortage of citizens ready to fill the vacated jobs for, surprise of surprises, most Americans do like and want to work to achieve their dreams.

I think that it is obvious why the liberal-progressive-socialist Democrats won't address the illegal immigrant issue with America's best interests in mind. It's because when they look at the illegal immigrant issue they don't think about America's best interests but they do think about their own. Socialism doesn't work well unless you have a permanent underclass and in illegal immigration the Democrats see a ready-made, permanent underclass. They also see a source of votes because they've managed to obstruct laws requiring that people show a picture identification when they vote. (I find that odd because you have to show identification to get into most government buildings, to get on an airplane, when you're driving a car or to check-in to a hotel or motel, opening a bank account and when you're applying for a job. The one most important thing that Americans do is vote but for that: No positive proof of identity is required. Interesting mindset that. Interesting and devious because if you consider the amount of voter fraud that was reported and perpetrated in 2008 all at the hands of Obama's former employer and current ally in ACORN, then you can see just how important NOT requiring a picture ID is when an election is held. It definitely complicates efforts to register people like "Moon Dog," "Olive Oyl," "Mark Twain" and "Alfred E. Neuman" then have poseurs stand in line to pull the lever for the leftist candidate of choice.

No, the objections of the left to the Arizona law are not based on a true interest in the rights of citizens or visitors to this country. They are based solely on their own self-interest and the need for any political advantage, no matter how small, this coming November. If the truth be told, the Obama Regime cares nothing about the rights of Americans and their actions in securing the violent southern border to protect Americans and legal residents in that area is the proof. They've done nothing. They also care nothing about the welfare of illegal immigrants because if they did they would have sat down at the beginning of the Regime, secured the borders and started a top to bottom overhaul of our immigration system to open up the choke points, modernize the technology used by immigration officials, reform the method and manner of issuing work visas and sent illegals back to their home countries requiring them to re-enter the country legally if they wanted to continue the life they'd begun when they snuck across the border. Instead, they have already started floating the idea of amnesty for those illegal aliens who are currently here–something a majority of Americans oppose–along with a package of social benefits that are not available to American citizens–again something opposed by a solid majority of Americans. None of this will pass through Congress, of course, but the fact that they are talking about it will buy them support in November and that's all they want.

As for Mexico, President Felipe Calderon is a Class 1 hypocrite. Mexico has the most draconian laws immigration laws in the northern half of the Western Hemisphere. The police there, corrupt banditos who took the job less to serve and protect and more to pillage and plunder, racially profile Norte Americanos constantly. Papers are demanded and bribes happily accepted otherwise, "I'm sorry but there will be a delay in your travels while we check your papers." (I assure you that there are honest cops in Mexico. It's just that unfortunately there are too few to yet make a difference in how business is done and the mordida collected.) Before President Calderon again looks the idiot by issuing a travel warning for Arizona, he should clean up his own house. (I wonder why the United States doesn't make it a policy that all immigration laws are enforced based on reciprocity? Imagine, if we treated Mexicans coming illegally to America just like they treat Norte Americanos going illegally to Mexico.)

Police state: How Mexico treats illegal aliens

The absolute hypocrisy of Mexico and the Mexican President in criticizing the Arizona law is just astounding when one compares it to what Mexico does to aliens in Mexico.  Michelle Malkin hoists President Felipe Calderon on his own petard with her report on Mexico's draconian laws and policies.

Maybe we should just adopt Mexico's laws and enforce them the way they do.  What do you think?
