Deputy U.S. Marshal Dies After Being Shot in St. Louis

Deputy U.S. Marshal John Perry died in the line of duty.  May he rest in peace.  

Another brother down.  A sad day.  But what is truly sad is that Charlie Sheen will be on the news daily for who knows how long but he is nothing compared to John Perry.

Chief: Woburn cop slay like ‘wild west’

Officer down.  

Another brother officer is down in the line of duty.  Another family looses a husband and father.  When the sound of gunfire erupted he ran towards it, not away, because it was his duty.  He didn't think twice about it.  He just did it knowing that St. Michael was there beside him.  Now he will age no more and he stands beside St. Michael ready again to battle evil.

Now that I'm retired I often think of those brothers-in-the-profession of mine who died in the line of duty.  I will never forget them.

1 police officer killed, several wounded in Detroit

An officer has fallen in a violent encounter.  May God bless and keep his loved ones and may he rest in peace.  He shall not be forgotten.

Detroit has been under Democrat Party control for many, many years and has sunk from the Motor City to a shooting gallery despite–or more probably because of–the numerous social programs that have been instituted there.  Perhaps if they actually tried to provide people opportunity rather than being a "nanny" the situation would be different.

Dead suspect was ex-con whose recent prison stint was for double shooting

Maplewood, Minnesota, sounds like a quiet community in the suburbs of Minneapolis-St. Paul.  Sgt. Joe Bergeron had served the community of Maplewood for 26 years and left behind a wife and a 13 year-old daughter.

On of the perpetrators is dead.  Police have the other in custody.

May Sgt. Bergeron rest in peace and may the good Lord comfort and keep his family.

The Deputy involved will live and now we know that the wound was superficial. That the attackers were drug smugglers and, no doubt, illegally in the United States, focuses the problem that the federal government has let fester for way too long. Is it any wonder that the State of Arizona took steps to address the problem? And when you actually read the law, it is perfectly clear that they did so within the bounds of the Constitution.

Now I know that you have heard immigrant activists and the Left Stream Media bloviating about how the Arizona law in unconstitutional but it is clear to me that they haven't actually read or studied the Constitution and that they believe it says only what they want it to say. Arizona did not preempt the federal government. Arizona did not write new immigration law. Arizona did say that they would ensure that current federal law would be enforced in the State of Arizona.

If the liberal-progressive-socialist Democrats currently in Congress have a problem with that, let them step-up to the plate and do something constructive to solve the illegal immigrant problem in the halls of Congress. They won't, of course, because the illegal immigrants fit perfectly in their plan for a permanent underclass which can be used again and again for political purposes.  Plus, they are a source for cheap labor.

And I would recommend that Presidente Calderon actually do something about the conditions in his own country that force people to cross the Rio Grande in search of freedom and food. The blood on the border is a direct result of the corruption in Mexico and that corruption is a result of the Mexican government's failure to take care of their citizens.  And as for the reconquista movement that the Mexican government quietly supports and encourages, they can take it an put it in that dank, dark place where it belongs.

About the Pentagon shooter

I stand with Michelle Malkin on this.  To immediately begin a diatribe blaming this or that group is neither helpful nor correct.  This guy was clearly not operating with the lights on.  I will wait for the investigation to finish before trying to put this guy into somebody's organization because the investigation may well reveal that he belongs in no organization.  There are, after all, very disturbed and evil people in the world who don't need somebody else to motivate them to commit crimes.

Brutal DEA agent murder reminder of agency priority

I remember Kiki Camarena well.  He was a very good man.  Intensely serious about the job and someone you knew you could count on to be there when needed.

I was in Thailand when he died and it doesn't seem like 25 years ago to me.  Unfortunately, little has changed since his death.  Mexico is still rife with corruption.  The government is still ineffective.  The people are still poor.  They still resent the United States for having been successful where they have basically failed.  Their only hope for success is the bogus reconquista movement but, even if that were a reality, their culture of corruption would lead to the same poverty in the reconquered areas that are now in the United States.

Kiki's death is remembered by those of us who carried the same badge but the politicians clearly have forgotten.  To them he is yesterday's news and won't help in their re-election campaigns this November.  Likewise with the war on drugs.  The politicians have abdicated their leadership and have consistently cut the heart out of what I believe is one of the best law enforcement organizations at the Federal level.  Drugs are available just about everywhere because they, the politicians, just don't care to really address the problem.  The "progressive" answer is, of course, to adopt a more relaxed attitude towards drugs because it's easier to control a people that are high than those who are attached to reality.

Kiki exemplified the courage and dedication of all DEA Special Agents.  He gave his life for his country.  He will not be forgotten.

This is an execution that is long overdue. Imagine, the Main Stream Media's LA Times touts Abu-Jamal as the center of an "international cause celebre." Disgusting. This felon murdered a Philadelphia policeman and the only "race" in the case was injected by the defense in hopes of keeping Abu-Jamal alive. He deserves to die.

For well over half my adult life I've carried weapons in the service of my country. I am always saddened when one falls or is injured yet I know that when you take up arms to protect and defend the public that you assume certain risks. It is the price that is extracted by the badge that is worn and office we hold. Those who wear the badge are on the front lines and face evil every day in hopes of making this world a little better and a little safer.

In this case one paid the ultimate price while performing duties to protect the public and another is severely wounded. My heart goes out to both families and to the friends of these two gentlemen. Take a moment, if you will, to be silent and ponder the sacrifice made on your behalf this day. Cherish the thought of these two men for we are lucky to have such men who are willing to stand between those who are defenseless and those who are evil.

By way of disclosure I am a former Federal law enforcement officer and a Life Member of the National Rifle Association. I've never felt the need to fear honest men and women who possess and bear arms. Only evil does harm on purpose. Honest citizens do not.
