Captured: The 65th Anniversary of D-Day on the Normandy Beaches – Plog Photo Blog

Captured: The 65th Anniversary of D-Day on the Normandy Beaches – Plog Photo Blog

My late uncle went ashore a couple of days after D-Day. There was still a lot of carnage to be seen on the beach and he would never talk about it. He was wounded, hospitalized in France and returned to duty albeit in an optic repair shop in Paris where he was when the war ended. The linked photo blog gives some heretofore unseen shots of D-Day activities that leave you wondering about the young men whose faces appear in the pictures. Did they make it or do they lie in a grave in France or a watery grave in the English Channel.

One thing we know for sure: They answered the call to duty and did what they could. For that alone, God Bless them all.
