The Swiss Continue Their Tradition

Liberal-progressive-socialists hate guns. The private possession of weapons poses a serious threat to their dreams of hegemony over all Americans for they realize the absolute truth that the most significant difference between free men and slaves is the possession of arms.

The Swiss have been free for centuries and have one of the lowest crime rates in the world. It is a beautiful country with it's snowy mountains and picturesque lakes. It's population also has more guns, per capita, than Americans because the government issues them gasp! assault rifles and a basic load of ammunition to keep at home.

It's all based on their concept of a very small standing army complimented by an reserve force of civilian soldiers who are trained, armed and ready for duty at very short notice. True, the topography of Switzerland allows this type of defense posture but the amazing thing is that the government of Switzerland trusts its' citizens with the arms and the citizens trust their government.

And the crime rate, as I indicated is very low. This could be because the unemployment rate is very high and the Swiss do not coddle the unemployed in that they don't let people be comfortable in their poverty. But it could also be because every household is armed thus not a very good target for crime.
