People are starting to come to the same conclusion I did: The confrontations between the Tea Party protesters and the Democrats who marched purposely through the crowd from their offices to the House chambers were staged. Plan A was for someone in the Tea Party to actually do something really, really stupid. Absent that, however, the liberal-progressive-socialists who were on their way to steal freedom from all Americans had a Plan B. Plan B was simple: If the Tea Party activists don't do anything but yell, then we'll create an issue such as "hearing the 'N' word shouted from the crowd or stopping to get so close to them that the spittle that flies from many a shouting mouth hits us so we can claim we were spat upon. Don't worry, they thought, the compliant Left Stream Media will dutifully broadcast our being victims without questioning anything. Nobody will ask why we didn't use the tunnel we normally use so that we can avoid the crowds. Nobody will notice that we are purposely sticking the American people's nose in a pile of dog poop and telling them to get used to the smell.
The goal for the liberal-progressive-socialists was also simple: Retake the high-moral ground while they were stealing liberty from the people. They needed to be able to portray ourselves as the 'victims' in all this so that We the People wouldn't look too closely at what they were doing.
What is absolutely amazing is that despite the new transparency that was promised during the campaign by Obama and the rest of the liberal-progressive-socialist leadership and, which we all know never materialized (nor will it ever materialize), Plan A and Plan B were the most transparent, theatrically-staged ploys in the history of politics. And they failed for the simplest of reasons: The oh-so-smart Democrat leadership forgot that this is the age of camera phone videos, small video recorders and digital tape recorders and not one of the hundreds in use that day was able to catch even a hint of the 'N' word. (Just in case someone out there knows of one, Andrew Breitbart has offered a $10,000.00 reward for it.) And the video of the flying spittle shows only a man trying to shout and trying to make himself heard and not making the motions that would indicate he was trying to spit on a Congressman. Their perfect theatrical ploy was foiled by the ever present digital video camera.
You would think with all the support from Sean Penn, Barbara Streisand and the rest of the Hollywood left-wing, useful idiots that they would have run their script by a professional to ensure that it was plausible. I mean, what's the use of hanging around with Hollywood-types and training them to be lap-dogs if they can't help you perform when the time comes?

Our Founders correctly identified our rights. They are not something that comes from any government. They come from our Creator and as free people they are ours at birth. They are enshrined in the Constitution as the Bill of Rights and are most simply stated in the Declaration of Independence as "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." Nowhere is there a right to medical care but there is a right to procure it. And nowhere is there a right to education but you may strive to achieve it.
The problem with the youth of California is that they have been so poorly educated that they don't know the difference between an unalienable right, which is protected by the Constitution, and something that most people would like to have and, if they work for it, can have.

The drama on the day in question was scripted and manufactured by the liberal-progressive-socialist Democrats and their Left Stream Media minions as a way to place the primary opposition to their seizure of liberty from We the People at a disadvantage. Rather than take the normal route through the tunnels that they use daily–you hardly ever see Congressmen or Senators walking above ground from their office to their respective chambers–they purposely walked through the crowd in hopes of stirring the Tea Party crowd's anger. That was Plan A. When the hoped for anger didn't appear as they wished, Plan B went into effect and they manufactured alleged racial slurs and said that they were spat upon. This was immediately and dutifully reported by the Left Stream Media as fact. Unfortunately for them, the innumerable cameras, phones and video recorders were unable to catch any of it as proof. What is now plainly obvious in the cold, clear light of day–something these politicians always avoid–is that they lied in order to attempt to regain the high moral ground that they had lost by ignoring the wishes of the majority of We the People.
These elected officials are leaches feeding off the blood of freedom and must be expelled from office; and, their faux outrage at insults that never happened, or if they did were certainly not indicative of the entire movement, will not save their political careers this coming November. The first arrest in the threatening of a Congressman after the vote on Obamacare! Proof positive that the extreme...wait, Eric Cantor is a Republican. You mean to say that the first person arrested for the violence that liberal-progressive-socialist Democrats were attributing to the far right is someone who wanted to threatened to kill a Conservative. Why, that doesn't make sense! A Conservative wouldn't be threatening to kill another Conservative. I remember that during the campaign the Left Stream Media kept attacking Sarah Palin at every turn yet gave Joe Biden a complete pass despite the numerous gaffes and just-plain-stupid things that he said. Case against 3 SEALs weakens - Washington Times
I had experience with the Military Justice system both as an Infantry Officer and, later, as a Miltary Police Officer. The Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) is eminently fair if conducted by fair, objective Commanders, and the military, across the board, trains its people to be fair and objective. Despite that training there are instances when the Peter Principle, or raw luck, places an officer one position too high for his capabilities and that, combined with the pressure for political correctness, can lead to some awful decisions to prosecute under the UCMJ.
To top it all off, the military has become extremely competitive for despite its size there are only so many open positions at the next level which can lead to the smallest smudge, let alone a black mark, in your record being the difference between being promoted and being passed over. And if you are passed over 3 times as an officer, you get a pink slip thanking you for your service and out the door you go even if you're only a couple of years from retirement. To put it in perspective, as a brand-new 2nd Lt. you get a letter admonishing you for an inspection that didn't go well and since that point you've performed in an outstanding manner yet that one smudge is enough to keep you from promotion to Major or Lt. Colonel and out you go. Not exactly a system that allows for the development of a Patton, Eisenhower or Marshall but it does ensure that we have the most competent–based on the rated performance–people possible leading our youth into battle. It is still possible for someone who to slip through despite lacking the true ability but most of the time they won't. Most of the time.
Now consider the case against the 3 SEALs. They are obviously fine fighting men who are willing to go the distance in the service of our country. I know of no one who served in the military that doesn't give a nod of respect to SEALs. The cone for promotions in the SEALs gets very, very tight as it nears the top. I know of men who had received the Silver Star getting a pink slip because there was just not enough room at the next level and they didn't even have that small smudge on their record as a junior officer or enlisted man. Being referred to a Court Martial, as these men have been, is slightly more that a "smudge" and will probably end their military career somewhere down the road. Major General Cleveland's preferring of Court Martial proceedings was clearly precipitous considering that faking torture is a known tactic of al Qaeda and that the terrorists train their people to make just that accusation. They know that the Left Stream Media and the liberal-progressive-socialist Democrats love to cast our own troops as being the true evil in the war and they use both those groups most effectively. Cleveland has clearly, in a time when political correctness is more important that the ability to lead in combat, covered is rear with paper in an effort to grasp for that third star. Just as clearly, he doesn't deserve the two he has.
I believe that the UCMJ will perform as intended and that these men, these warriors, will be exonerated from the charges started by a young, inexperienced officer and filed by a General Officer, both of whom exemplify the term REMF. (For those of you too young to remember the Vietnam era, I suggest that you Google the term. I probably should write it out but despite Joe Biden's efforts to bring it to the main stream lexicon I prefer to leave the "F" to the street where it belongs.) These men should never have been charged or even verbally admonished. They should have been awarded medals, instead, for their having done their duty in an outstanding manner.

To top it all off, the military has become extremely competitive for despite its size there are only so many open positions at the next level which can lead to the smallest smudge, let alone a black mark, in your record being the difference between being promoted and being passed over. And if you are passed over 3 times as an officer, you get a pink slip thanking you for your service and out the door you go even if you're only a couple of years from retirement. To put it in perspective, as a brand-new 2nd Lt. you get a letter admonishing you for an inspection that didn't go well and since that point you've performed in an outstanding manner yet that one smudge is enough to keep you from promotion to Major or Lt. Colonel and out you go. Not exactly a system that allows for the development of a Patton, Eisenhower or Marshall but it does ensure that we have the most competent–based on the rated performance–people possible leading our youth into battle. It is still possible for someone who to slip through despite lacking the true ability but most of the time they won't. Most of the time.
Now consider the case against the 3 SEALs. They are obviously fine fighting men who are willing to go the distance in the service of our country. I know of no one who served in the military that doesn't give a nod of respect to SEALs. The cone for promotions in the SEALs gets very, very tight as it nears the top. I know of men who had received the Silver Star getting a pink slip because there was just not enough room at the next level and they didn't even have that small smudge on their record as a junior officer or enlisted man. Being referred to a Court Martial, as these men have been, is slightly more that a "smudge" and will probably end their military career somewhere down the road. Major General Cleveland's preferring of Court Martial proceedings was clearly precipitous considering that faking torture is a known tactic of al Qaeda and that the terrorists train their people to make just that accusation. They know that the Left Stream Media and the liberal-progressive-socialist Democrats love to cast our own troops as being the true evil in the war and they use both those groups most effectively. Cleveland has clearly, in a time when political correctness is more important that the ability to lead in combat, covered is rear with paper in an effort to grasp for that third star. Just as clearly, he doesn't deserve the two he has.
I believe that the UCMJ will perform as intended and that these men, these warriors, will be exonerated from the charges started by a young, inexperienced officer and filed by a General Officer, both of whom exemplify the term REMF. (For those of you too young to remember the Vietnam era, I suggest that you Google the term. I probably should write it out but despite Joe Biden's efforts to bring it to the main stream lexicon I prefer to leave the "F" to the street where it belongs.) These men should never have been charged or even verbally admonished. They should have been awarded medals, instead, for their having done their duty in an outstanding manner.

From Gateway Pundit, an excellent blog if you've never been there, is an aerial photo of the Tea Party crowd at Searchlight, NV. Funny, this was available to CNN but they didn't use it. Instead they purposely demeaned the rally at being "...hundreds of people, at least dozens..." in their estimate of the crowd.

The problem with the liberal-progressive-socialists is that they just throw money–other people's money–at the problem of the poor. They don't actually try to fix the problem by encouraging the poor to work and achieve, rather they commiserate with the poor and tell them that it's not their fault but the fault of the rich. The poor accept the lie as fact because it comes from their "benefactors" even though the "benefactors" aren't helping with their own money but that stolen from the rich. In doing this the liberal-progressive-socialists develop political support based on the economic slavery and through that support accrue power with which they can then rule "for the good of all" as the despotic, ruling elite.
During the entire process liberal-progressive-socialists feel good about themselves because in their lies they tell themselves that they are doing good. In reality they are doing great harm. But they feel very good about it.

I couldn't resist this story. I was in law enforcement for a long time and I saw some very interesting things but I never saw someone giving mouth-to-mouth resuscitation to a possum. Having grown up in the country, I do know that possums do play dead once in a while but the story indicates that this one had been dead for some time.
The reporter left many needed facts out of the story. For instance, was the man a member of PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) or ALF (Animal Liberation Front)? Membership in either of those might be considered a mitigating factor in this case. Also, is the man in question a Democrat? That also might be considered a mitigating factor. And how sure is the officer that the man was giving the possum mouth-to-mouth resuscitation? Could there have been a relationship involved?
So many questions are left unanswered by this story. All I can say is that somebody's family history has been enriched by a measure that most will not match in their lifetime.

So Obama scolded the GOP. If he thinks the last year was bad, wait until he sees what the future holds. The Democrats have been playing by Chicago rules and completely ignored the will of We the People, but now they must look towards November hoping that they can make We the People forget.
I wouldn't bet on that nor would I think that there will be any cooperation with any Obama appointees, judicial or otherwise, in the Senate. And 41 votes means no consent.
Still it is the President's right to make recess appointments. It's been done time and again by presidents from both parties. Maybe not with the arrogance of Obama, or with nominees as corruptly ill-suited for the positions, but it's been done before.

Max Baucus, Obamacare is more about correcting the "maldistribution of income" and providing health care for all. In other words, the goal of Obamacare is socialism. Not my words, but those of Max Baucus.
Considering the logic of that statement, the only maldistribution of income is that which is spent in Washington, DC, to Senators, Representatives and the rest of their ilk on Capitol Hill and in the White House.

We all now know that Obama is an inveterate liar and one of his sweetest sounding lies during the campaign was that taxes for middle America would not go up. Of course, they have gone up and before his term ends he will try to raise them further. That's what liberal-progressive-socialist Democrats do: Tax and Spend. It will all be because of Bush, you see, because that's another thing that liberal-progressive-socialist Democrats do: blame others for their own failed handiwork. The truth of the matter is quite different, however, as when you look objectively back at the spending of the Bush Administration you see that while the Republicans were acting a lot like traditional Democrats in spending--without the socialism, of course--the real spending problems didn't come until the liberal-progressive-socialist Democrats took control of both houses of Congress. That's when the real problem started. This is not to excuse the Republicans for they had strayed far from their conservative principles. Perhaps this was caused by the too close association with the Democrats? Or possibly it was because they had been in Washington, DC, for far too long and had forgotten that they were there to represent We the People rather than the special interests who funded their election campaigns.
Now with a Socialist-in-everything-but-name President, and "progressive" Democrats in control of the Congress what lies ahead for America, at least the best we can hope for, is a European-style socialism where the state take control of individual lives from cradle to grave. Obama and his minions are focused on destroying the America that was great and replacing it with a socialist/marxist state controlled by the ruling elite. To do that they need to institute more taxation because as Margaret Thatcher once said, "Socialism is great until you run out of other people's money." The VAT is one they believe they can sell to We the People by playing the old "class warfare" game of equalizing everyone (but themselves) through taxation. It is a way to keep from running out of other people's money...at least so soon.
Of course, Obama and his comrades will have to get this past We the People before it can be done. And we have November 2010 in which we can start applying the brakes. And apply them we will.

There is no dearth of qualified, ethical individuals that could fill the sensitive and necessary TSA position so either Obama or his Administration is using a flawed process based on flawed ethical, professional or personnel considerations; or those who are qualified and ethical are quietly declining to take a job under Obama given the manner in which he governs and the ease with which he lies.
Either way, considering the ideological radicalism of many of those already appointed by Obama, I do not believe that any of his nominees should, in the future, escape a rigorous Advise and Consent process. This is, of course, a given considering the completely partisan manner in which Dingy Harry Reid has conducted business in the Senate and the arrogance of the liberal-progressive-socialist Democrats.

And rightly so. Their hypocrisy is clear for all to see for conservatives do not encourage violence but, more often than not, are the recipients of violence from the left. Can you imagine the reaction of the Left Stream Media if George W. Bush had an ex-con hanging around during his two terms? The squeals of astonishment and anger would still be echoing along with accusations of ethics violations. But Obama gets a pass and becomes more arrogant with each passing day.

On Presidential Smoking
I received an email earlier today from an old friend, Frank. Actually he manages to get several emails out each week and it's always nice to be remembered by someone whom I respect for having "been there and done that" in my former life.
Frank is, like me, conservative in his political views and this email was not in favor of the current Administration, Congress or Obamacare. It went as follows (minus, unfortunately, the picture of a little old lady holding a cigarette and an attitude):
"Let me get this straight......we're trying to pass a health care plan written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that hasn't read it but exempts themselves from it, to be signed by a president that also is exempt from it and hasn't read it and who smokes, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's broke. "
"What the hell could possibly go wrong?"
When I read the email I smiled for it captured the essence of Conservative reluctance to accept government oversight of something as personal as health care. Individual liberty, embodied in the right to make choices for ourselves, is, after all, a core Conservative belief.
As I was pondering the events of the last few days over a cigar on my front porch this evening I came to the conclusion that the derogatory comment about President Obama smoking was a bit hypocritical. After all, there I was enjoying a very fine cigar with my thoughts, something I've done for over 40 years, and who was I to sneer at the President for enjoying an occasional tobacco cigarette. (I specify tobacco because given the current political correctness the Left Stream Media would not worry or even mention it if it was marijuana.)
Tobacco has, after all, been used since we came to the New World. It has detractors, mainly because they don't like the smell, but our life span has certainly increased during the last few centuries despite its use. The medical arguments against smoking are generally accepted even though, when done in moderation, there is less danger in smoking than driving your car down the highway. (Odd, but they make medical arguments for smoking marijuana but against tobacco when marijuana is more harmful to the lungs. But I digress.) Still, I don't recommend the use of tobacco to the young. Cigarettes do smell bad but they've been used by politicians for many, many years and entered the political lexicon with references to "smoke filled rooms" where decisions of state were made.
But the politicians who smoked were not always lightweights like those in power today. Think about the iconic pictures of Churchill with his cigar. FDR with his cigarette in a holder at a jaunty angle. John F. Kennedy even enjoyed cigars on occasion and was photographed enjoying one while sitting in his ever present rocking chair. (The only complaint about JFK's cigars that I ever had was that he sent Pierre Salinger out to buy all the Cuban Davidoff cigars he could find before signing the embargo. They were reputed to have remained in a humidor in New York City after his death before passing on to his son and then, after John-John's unfortunate death, on to Caroline and her husband. I don't know if Caroline or her husband smoke them but I hope so. It would be a shame to let them go to waste given the labor of the Cuban artisans that made them by hand. But again, I digress.) Why, even Bill Clinton...wait, I don't want to go there. Let's just acknowledge that many Presidents enjoyed tobacco and it gave them pleasure and solace as they faced the pressures of that lofty and lonely office. We should, therefore, not berate Barack for his occasional cigarette. It is a shame that we have become so politically correct that his smoking is an issue.
Of course, there are those who say the President should set an example and that is true to an extent. He shouldn't be photographed with a cigarette because of the possible impact on children, but what he does in private is his business and we shouldn't meddle. Indeed, we should allow him his small vice and not make a federal case out of it when it comes up. My position is that it is demeaning that he has to bum a cigarette from one of his staff or one of the Secret Service Agents who protect him. It's ridiculous when you think about it. I mean, picture the scene of President Obama sitting with Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu in the Oval Office just yesterday. It was a serious meeting. So serious that no pictures were allowed to be taken. The conversation was heated at times and the pressure intense as President Obama tried to convince Prime Minister Netanyahu to not build Israeli settlements in Israeli territory in East Jerusalem and Prime Minister Netanyahu just as firmly rejected that position stating that East Jerusalem was Israeli territory. Then, in an effort to calm the discussion so that they could both think and reflect for a moment, Barack was forced to say, "Bibi, do you have a cigarette I could bum?"
How bad is it, because of political correctness, we put our president in a position of bumming cigarettes? He should have had his own stash with the Presidential Seal on the paper so that he could have offered one to Bibi and gain the upper hand while looking magnanimous.
I'd support that, as a pack-a-day is a small price to pay when it comes to ensuring our President doesn't have to act like he's doing something wrong in his own office or confirm that our country is so close to bankruptcy that we can't even provide cigarettes or cigars for guests. After all, what's the worse thing that could happen?

I just listened to Fox News' Shepard Smith interviewed a security expert on whether the resistance to Somalian pirates was really appropriate as other unidentified "security experts" were concerned that resistance to pirates might lead to the pirates escalating the violence of their attempts to seize vessels on the high seas. Thankfully, the security expert being interviewed calmly and correctly pointed out the stupidity of that argument leaving Smith grasping for a way to promote his hook on the story.
Clearly, self-defense is a legal and viable means of protecting your ship, cargo and personnel. The navies of several nations are patrolling the area but have yet to stop the piracy. In fact, the story being presented was about the security guards of a vessel killing one pirate in an exchange of gunfire when the pirates tried to seize the vessel they'd been hired to protect. The Spanish Navy showed up some time later and took the other pirates into custody. Win-Win? Not according to Shepard who reiterated the "Neville Chamberlain" approach advocated by pseudo-security experts from their positions of safety in London.
At the end of the story it was revealed that while the vessel with the security detail aboard successfully avoided capture, two others were seized by pirates and were steaming towards port in Somalia with the ship, cargo and crew all captive.
History! Don't any of these people read history? Or is all they know about pirates from Disney films?

I know that's an unusual combination but it does exist more often than we conservatives imagine--Pat Caddell, the Democrat pollster from Jimmy Carter's Administration is another example--still the events in question are less than 10 years ago and should be--I stress should be--still fresh in everyone's mind. Sadly they are not. Among those who avidly voted for Obama but couldn't identify his Vice President or the things that his Vice President said or that Obama himself said, memory is about as long and in depth as that of a goldfish. That's why Karl Rove's book is needed so soon after the end of the Bush Presidency. One can fairly criticize President Bush for some of his later fiscal policies, even though those were increasingly driven by a partisan, Democrat-controlled Congress after 2006 that surely did not have Republican or the country's best interests in mind; but, his decisions on national security cannot be so easily faulted. Nor, as history clearly reveals when you remove the smoke and mirrors of the liberal-progressive-Democrat political machine and its Left Stream Media abettors, was it politically partisan. The cold, clear truth is that it was bi-partisan in nature--something the left would have you forget--and spurred by a true national interest rather than the "corporate interest" fairy tale pushed by the left today.
All in all, Rove's book looks to be an excellent read for those who want to see the truth.

The Canadian Free Press, unlike our own Left Stream Media, calls it for what it is. I've long postulated that the liberal-progressive-socialist Democrats, long protectors of slavery in the South and reluctant supporters of the Civil Rights Movement, jumped on the Civil Rights bandwagon when Lyndon Johnson finally convinced them that through manipulation of the economy they would be able to perpetuate an economic slavery that is every bit as pernicious, and effective, as that which flourished during the early 1800's. Instead of having to buy slaves from African Muslim slave traders and run a gauntlet of British Man O' Wars to get them to the shores of America as was done in the 1800's, they would be able to use welfare, and now Obamacare, to stifle individual initiative and increase dependance on the government for all things right within the borders of the nation. In other words, they would still have their "slaves" but instead of just being black, they would be from all races within the United States; and those "slaves," educated to revere slavery by a liberal-progressive-socialist educational system, would naturally vote to keep the ruling elite--read liberal-progressive-socialist Democrats--in power indefinitely.

Just as the liberal-progressive-socialist Democrats are trying to incrementally enslave the nation through ever more socialist legislation we will have to repeal the bill through incremental steps.
First, we retake control of the House and Senate in 2010.
Next, we defund implementation of the bill so that while it is on the books it can't operate. We roll-back the tax increases and cut all funding that is needed to carry out the onerous provisions.
Finally, in 2012 we elect a Conservative President and formally repeal the legislation then go back to the drawing board and do it right. Portability. Sale of insurance across state lines. Tort reform. And a real program to help those without insurance. None of this would, of course, increase the size of the Federal Government nor would it infringe on individual choice and freedom.

Would that the Democrats were so imbued with the actual spirit of our Forefathers that they would have stood and rejected the seizure of 1/6th of our economy by the Federal Government under the guise of taking care of all Americans. I would commend to them the words of Thomas Jefferson who wisely said, "I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them."
The battle for freedom is not yet over. It is a battle that each generation must fight if freedom is to be preserved.
Remember, our rights do not come from government but from God. Any government that pretends to convey "rights" to its citizens is usurping God's will.

One of the problems that we face in dealing with the Chinese as our main, and needed, source of money is President Obama's naiveté in foreign affairs. The Chinese have long used Sun Tzu's The Art of War as their guide in the conduct of business and as a result they are extremely formidable opponents in business and to be emulated for their acumen. In the West, business is conducted on the basis of investment, profit and cooperation. In China, business is conducted as war absent the armed conflict and the goal of the Chinese businessman is not just to profit but to defeat. By increasing our debt to the point that we must borrow money from China we have given them the opportunity to use that debt as a tool of war as it relates to business. First, nationalize the biggest automobile manufacturers.
Second, take control of the banking industry.
Third, take control of the health care industry.
Fourth, take control of all energy.
Fifth, take control of the people and eliminate all freedom.
There is no other explanation for Obama's actions. He wants to destroy America and see it humbled and beaten. Then he will, of course, "fundamentally change" the country into a socialist state on the model of Chavez of Venezuela.
January 20, 2013, is a day I look forward to: Obama's last day in office.
