It's an old dictum that if you're trying to perpetrate a fraud you must control the message. In this case they are going all out to keep any questions from being asked unless those questions support their preconception of "the truth." This clearly has nothing to do with science and everything to do with the politics of money and power.

Further, tell them to act like the co-equal branch of government that they are under the Constitution. They can put a stop the the White House's use of the EPA to blackmail and coerce Congress on this matter because in the end, it is the Congress that controls the purse strings.
