I have to be honest here and disclose that I retired from federal law enforcement so I have no sympathy for someone who is armed and resists arrest.
The facts are that this "Imam" was armed and fired at the FBI Agents who were attempting to serve a warrant. He was an "Imam" who preached crime and violence from his Islamic pulpit and he resisted arrest violently.
I am only surprised that he was hit just 20 times.
There are those who will say, "Hey! Wait a minute. They had to shoot him 20 times? Isn't that overkill?"
I would respond that first, there is no such thing as "overkill" in armed combat. If you are to survive you must shoot until the other guy has quit shooting and moving. But the criminal can only be "killed" once. If, after the first hit, he throws down his weapon and surrenders then you stop shooting and complete the arrest. But, as long as he is trying to shoot you, you keep shooting. It's called survival and is important to you and your family.
Second, 20 hits from several trained law enforcement officers could take as little as 3 to 4 seconds. I know of one federal law enforcement agency that has a drill where the agent must turn, draw and fire 12 rounds in less than 6 seconds at the 7 yard line with all rounds hitting center of mass. If you take away the need to draw the weapon, and I assure you that the Special Agents making the arrest had their weapons in hand and at the ready, the time drops considerably.
Like I said, I'm only surprised that he was hit only 20 times.
