Senators from Virginia Cut-Off Contact with the People of the Commonwealth

It is clear that their loyalty is only to the Party and not to the people.

I've been sending emails but today I thought I'd also call each of the Senators and leave a message with the staffer on phone duty in hopes that my demand for a "NAY!" vote on Obamacare would be heard along with other Virginians.

I first tried Senator Mark Warner's office. There is a toll free number there 1-877-676-2759 and I dialed it. It was answered by a machine that identified it as the Senate answering machine and the robot requested the extension of the person I wished to talk to. I looked on Mark Warner's page and, surprisingly, there was no other extension provided!

I then tried the 2nd number provided on Mark Warner's page (202-224-6295) and it turned out to be a fax. The third number on Warner's page (202-224-2023) took me to the same robotic answering machine as the toll free number he so conveniently provides. But he inconveniently fails to provide the number to dial after the robot answers. (And, yes, I did try the last four--2023--of the main number.)

Now I know Warner to be a die-hard liberal Democrat who has shown a strong affinity for Harry Reid so I guess I shouldn't be surprised that he has tried to cut himself off from the people of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Jim Webb, also a Democrat, has shown some independence so I decided to try and call him next. He only has one number on his web site: 202-224-4024. But guess what? Yes, you guessed it. His contact number is also forwarded to a robot answering calls for the Senate and, no, he didn't provide the extension that would allow me to speak with one of his aides.

After some additional experimentation I found that if you use the last 5 digits of the number they provide, the robot will put you through to the office. But their web sites don't offer this information nor is it clearly available to the citizen wanting to contact their Senator. I've now called both of them. Their staff is answering the phone. So contact your Senators today and if you get the robot, use the last 5 digits of the phone number you dialed. That should work.

I do find it troubling that the two Senators from Virginia would sequester themselves from the people of the Commonwealth at a time when they should be listening closely to what the people are saying. What they are doing instead is listening to the Democratic Party for it is apparently the Party they represent rather than the people of the Commonwealth. Much like the one party governments of history, the two Senators from Virginia are loyal only to the Party. The Party touts them as the ruling elite and it return they will do what the Party wants instead of what the people want.

Contact your Senators today. It's just that important.

And contact Ben Nelson of Nebraska as well. He may join the filibuster if we nationalize the issue and people from all over contact him.
