An excellent read for a Sunday. Or any day of the week for that matter.
We must remember the truth: The United States of America was founded on Christian principles and it is a Christian nation. That is the truth of history. President Barack Hussein Obama may say that the U.S. is a Muslim nation but in doing so he shows his own ignorance and bias.
Our Constitution provides for the freedom of religion but does not, in truth, provide a freedom from religion. The Constitution says that the government may make no law establishing an official religion. It does not say that religion may not be practiced on government property, indeed that would have been an anathema to our Founding Fathers. The rulings to the contrary by the Supreme Court and other courts have been plainly wrong and we can only hope that one day they will see the abject error of their ways and reverse themselves or that our elected Representatives will take the proper steps to counter those rulings.
With this considered, the Manhattan Declaration was long overdue not because the Christian faith claims superiority but because others clearly wish to subordinate it either to other religions or no religion at all, i.e., atheism. Hollywood and the entertainment industry have long disparaged Christianity if not holding it up to ridicule as they promote their feel good culture. The ACLU, which was formed not to protect our liberties but to use them to destroy the United States, has worked ceaselessly to ban Christianity from all walks of life. Liberal-progressive-socialist judges and elected officials have sided with the ACLU and made or enacted laws to take Christian prayer and moral guidance out of the public schools. The result is an increase in teenage pregnancies and a dumbing down of our overall educational system. We now produce high school graduates who not only cannot read but have no knowledge of history, ethics or their responsibilities as citizens. All they are taught is self-awareness and what the government must do for them. This idea that the government must do certain things destroys the concept of individual responsibility. The lack of individual responsibility leads, inevitably, to a breakdown in social norms and, inevitably, an increase in crime because if the individual is not responsible then it's society that committed the crime. You might say it's a twist on the old "the devil made me do it" alibi.
And while Christianity has been attacked at every turn, the ACLU and those same leftist judges and politicians haven't objected to the fact that some public universities spending tax dollars to build foot baths for Muslim students to use before their prayers while they take down Christian crosses so that they will be more inclusive. The multi-cultural and diversity crowd which created political correctness believes every other culture and religion, or lack thereof, is superior to the Christian culture that made America the greatest country in the world. Some say this group does that out of a sense of guilt because America has so much while many other nations have so little. I would say that they do it out of extreme ignorance combined with a self-loathing that was developed because their educators, and even own families, gave them a love only for material things rather than a true moral basis for living and they feel guilty that more hasn't been done for those who don't have the material things. But they won't do anything themselves because it's the "government's responsibility." The idea that destroying that which is good so that it doesn't stand above that which is not good is not just ignorant, it is also evil. It is as evil today as it was when Cain slew Able.
Studies have shown that people who identify themselves as conservatives give more of their personal wealth than those who identify themselves as liberal. (If you don't believe me, look at the IRS verified charitable donations of Barack Obama and Joe Biden vs. George W. Bush and Dick Cheney. Look at it from a dollar amount and from a percentage of income amount. The answer--the difference actually--was reported in the news.) The explanation for this is simple: conservatives see someone who needs help and they reach in their pockets to help them while liberals see someone who needs help and they call for a government program to help them. The problem with the liberal approach is that when the government sets up a bureaucracy to help a certain class of people, the bureaucracy must expand to "live" and be successful. In order for the bureaucracy to live and be successful it must ensure that those it is supposed to help continue getting that help and new people from that same class or group are added to the rolls. In essence the bureaucracy, the government, creates a class of economic slaves and liberal-progressive-socialists exploit this class telling them that they must vote for the Democrat in order to keep being comfortable in their poverty. To think that come 2011 it will be 150 years since we started and fought a bloody war to end slavery yet we still have "slaves" is depressing. To think that those who created this economic slavery, the liberal-progressive-socialists, were the very ones who would not allow the Civil Rights Act to pass in the 1950's yet who are now hailed as the "saviors" and "champions" of minorities is testament not to their efforts, but to the constant indoctrination of the nation through the media and entertainment industries over the last five decades. Economic slavery will not end as long as people are told that they must have the government's help to succeed. The Democrats, the very people, led by Sen. Robert Byrd (D-WV), who successfully stopped the Civil Rights Act during the Eisenhower Administration, will perpetuate this slavery as they view it as the only way they can ensure their continued political power. That is why they will scream, lie and play on emotions to maintain the economic slavery of a large portion of our population. That is why they seek to expand the government's control over all aspects of our lives through seizing the health care system and increasingly onerous regulations by the bureaucracy of the Federal Government.
Yes, the Manhattan Declaration has been long overdue. We need to reclaim our mainstream values if we are to save our country from being robbed by those who would raid our treasury in support of non-existant Anthropogenic Global Warming and who would take America's wealth and redistribute it to the rest of the world where it would go into the pockets of the petty despots who rule Third World nations. We need to reclaim our schools so that we can ensure that our children are given a complete education with (gasp) the possibility of failure so that they can experience the joyful pride of success. We need to teach our children the ethical and moral values upon which they can rely through their entire life. We need to stop making people comfortable in their poverty and, instead, provide pathways out of poverty by encouraging them to work and have pride in their personal accomplishments.
