The cost is unconscionable and will damage the country.

The loss of individual freedom is unconscionable and will damage the citizenry.

Now what political party would be trying to do both of those things at the same time? The Democrats, of course. In the eyes of liberal-progressive-socialists, bringing America to its' knees so that 'fundamental change' can happen is a good thing. Establishing themselves as a ruling elite over the proletariate citizenry is a better thing. Perpetual power is the best thing.

I believe they are kidding themselves in this. It's the people who have perpetual power in our form of government and we aren't about to let the liberal-progressive-socialists bring the country to its' knees, let alone make fundamental changes in our system. They can try, but when we vote them out of office in 2010, we will reverse what they started. What they can enact by virtue of their current majority can, and will, be reversed if it hurts the country and the people.
