A Hero is Gone

Medal of Honor recipient Vernon Baker
Another hero will be laid to rest in Arlington this coming September 24.  This one from Idaho.

2nd Lt. Vernon Baker, 90, died from brain cancer.  He reportedly faced his impending death with jokes and died after telling his wife that he loved her.

Recognition of his heroism came late in his life and long after the guns of his war were silenced.  But the late recognition does not diminish the personal courage of this man who lived a quiet life in his later years.

May he rest in peace.
