That is correct. Islam is not responsible. Those who use Islam to encourage others to commit acts of violence such as this are responsible. Those who use Islam to encourage others to kill Muslims of a different sect are responsible. Those who use Islam to encourage honor killings are responsible. But Islam itself is not responsible.

We eagerly await the condemnation by all Islamic leaders of this act of violence. We eagerly await the condemnation by all Muslims of all acts of violence. We eagerly await the pronouncement of fatwahs against those who misuse Islam to encourage violence against others, just like the fatwah against Salman Rushdie. We eagerly await the demonstrations in the streets against this violence just like the demonstrations against the Danish cartoons.

We eagerly wait. And wait. And wait.
