No doubt that Tom Hanks has talent and I admit that I've enjoyed his movies. Movies are, however, a suspension of disbelief and one of the problems Hanks faces is the proclivity of actors and directors, having made a movie about a subject, to begin believing that they are experts on the subject of war, battle and armed conflict. Nothing could be further from the truth. Couple this with Hollywood's documented disdain for truth in history and you can see why the question, "Does Hollywood make you stupid?" is not rhetorical at all.
