And excellent story from the Politico that shows the type of promises made by Dingy Harry Reid in his successful effort to retain his Senate seat.  It's all about money, folks, and Harry now will be working hard to ensure the profits of casinos and unions and amnesty for Latinos.  What is good for the nation takes 3rd place in Harry's book.  First is what's good for Harry.  Second is what's good for Harry's major money supporters.  Third--maybe--is what is good for the nation.

Governor Brewer and Sarah Palin Criticize Eric Holder's Inability to Read

That the ethically-challenged Eric Holder is incompetent is no longer a state secret as he personally confirmed his abject incompetence by admitting that he hadn't read the very bill he had been roundly criticizing on television and to the print media.  As he succinctly put it, "...I've been relying on what I heard on television and read in the papers...".

I don't believe that I've ever seen a more blatant lack of probity on the part of an elected official.  (Well, ok, I will admit that Bill Clinton was worse with "...I never had sexual relations with that woman..." but Holder, who worked in the Clinton Administration, is definitely his understudy.)  But the fact of the matter is that a real Attorney General would have demurred commenting on the Arizona statute until after he'd read the law and briefed by staff experts on the issues presented.  A real Attorney General, as opposed to an in-over-his-head, partisan ideologue, would have not wanted to prejudice the issue in either direction until he was sure of the correct position.  But that's a real Attorney General.  Holder, on the other hand, was all too willing to use his position to help his boss, the quintessential community rabble rouser, in widening the divide between races by parroting Obama's lies about the law being nothing more than racial profiling.  And that canard, as obvious as it is, has been repeated by the Obama and the Left Stream Media at every turn if only to divert attention from Obama's failure to secure the border.

It is clear that Holder is too arrogant to do the right thing and resign so we will have to put up with him until after November at a minimum.  Once, however, we have place conservatives in leadership positions in the House and Senate, his arrogance will no longer provide the shield it does now.

The Democrats trot out racism and discrimination claims every time the issue comes up because if people actually had to be citizens when they voted, the chances of Democrats winning elections would drop by 50%.

Does it surprise anyone that the most incompetent Attorney General in the history of the United States criticizes a law based purely on hearsay? Unfortunately, I wasn't surprised at all because he is just following the lead of his boss. President Obama has been making statements calculated to divide America rather than unite the country. His demagogic assumption that the police in Arizona would act in a racist manner is distasteful at the least and patent racial pandering at the worst.  It is the Federal Government that has failed to act to secure the southern border and that is to the shame of both this Regime and the previous Administration. Arizona did exactly what it needed to do for the citizens of Arizona and they didn't do anything that isn't being done already in other areas of the United States. The difference is that it's close to an election and the liberal-progressive-socialist Democrats need to engage in race-mongering in order to have a semblance of an issue in November. They are hoping that by standing and screaming "RACIST!!" and repeating it often enough despite the fact that there is nothing racist about the law, their base will get enthused enough to turn out and vote.

As for me and most other Americans, we are tired of politicians and professional race-mongers like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton who keep stirring the racial pot to keep Americans divided along racial/ethnic lines. It's time that we quit assuming racism just so Jesse, Al and the others can make a living. It's time for them to get real jobs and contribute to America.

There are lies and then there are lies.  Some of the lies told in the Los Angeles City Council meeting reported in the linked LA Times article had to do with comparing Arizona with Nazi Germany which is odd since the city council's action was more like National Socialist Germany than that of Arizona.

Then there are lies like the one told by Councilman Ed Reyes.  I'll let you read that one for yourself.  But the liberal-progressive-socialist Democrats in portraying the Arizona law so inaccurately and in such loud, overwhelming voices have taken a page from National Socialist Germany.  On that page, written by National Socialist Propagandist Josef Goebbels wrote that any lie repeated often enough and loud enough soon becomes truth.  Not in fact but in belief.

The left loves Goebbels for he taught the craft of lying so well.

The violence was fomented directly by President Obama, the Obama Regime and their acolytes in the Left Stream Media and entertainment industry. Their statements were calculated to churn the emotions of their unthinking, robotic, left-wing base and gave them the signal to demonstrate and do so violently on May Day. And of course the useful idiots complied. But there is no doubt that Obama seized the issue not to heal it by bringing the nation together but to further divide the nation along class, economic and racial lines and in that he was successful.

The problem in Arizona should not be there. The Federal Government should have solved it decades ago but for too long the Congress has failed to do their job and now Obama has no intention of solving the issue if he can help it. Illegal immigration is not abhorrent to the liberal-progressive-socialist Democrats because it provides them with an instant, malleable underclass that they can use for political and economic power. When you look at what the illegal immigrants go through in order to illegally enter the United States across our southern border you come to the realization that allowing it to continue is tantamount to allowing slavery to continue. (You would think that the liberal-progressive-socialists would be dead-set against slavery but in actuality they are not. Instituting economic slavery, after all, is their ultimate goal. But I digress.) These people are victimized at every step of their journey and the victimization continues once they arrive. Victimization is something that has been the hallmark of Democrat politics for decades now. They don't hate it, however, quite the opposite. They use it to politically excite their underclass base in order to accrue political power. They preach it in every speech and inculcate and nurture it in their underclass base. Without victims, you see, the liberal-progressive-socialist Democrats would have no reason to exist and no path to power (which equals no path to wealth through crony capitalism).

The "threat" is not to Hispanic-Americans at all. It is a threat to those who profit from the business of smuggling Hispanics and others into the United States across the southern border through the actual smuggling of aliens into the United States and through the remittances that are sent back to their families in Mexico. Calderon is one of the biggest hypocrites in the Western Hemisphere (and considering the number of Democrats in the U.S. Congress that's saying something!) because he has done nothing to provide opportunity for the citizens of his own country. Corrupt Mexicans officials and the corrupt Mexican government profit heavily from the money sent home to relatives by illegal immigrants so his anger is not about the people but about a possible loss of money. And of course there is the Reconquista Movement that encourages Mexicans to believe that large swaths of the United States (such as California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas) can be returned to Mexico if they can only get enough Mexican citizens living there. (Fat chance that, but maybe we could make a deal for California alone. They'd have to take San Francisco just as it is today and promise to put up with their idiocy without trying to deport any of them. But, naw, they'd never be stupid enough to take that deal.)

So once again I'll put the map up for Presidente Calderon to remind him of his area of responsibility in hopes that he will actually do something for the people there other than let his corrupt government steal from them. You can read maps, can't you Felipe?

No matter how hard you try, you cannot be more hypocritical than Mexican President Felipe Calderon. The Mexican government does nothing for it's own citizens, treats visitors with contempt, has draconian laws to handle its own immigration issues and corrupt officials who happily get rich through mordida at every opportunity. And we haven't even started talking about the drugs.  Calderon needs to either memorize the above map or copy it down if that's beyond his capability.

Does it surprise anyone that the New York Slime and the Central BS network would attempt to rig a poll to ensure that their liberal-progressive-socialist slant was supported? No? I didn't think so, but I had to ask.

The Arizona law is neither an onerous intrusion on civil rights or racially motivated. The same practices that are stipulated in the Arizona law have been in part of life in Prince William Country, Virginia, right outside Washington, DC, for over a year and, guess what? No civil rights violations by racist police. No lawsuits claiming illegal arrests. And to top it all off, the fast food industry is still functioning without a problem. Yes, there have been more immigration holds placed on people with whom the police have come into lawful contact but when you think of it, that's how it should be. Police should enforce the law and not be forced to ignore it.

Mayor Rudy Giuliani (Remember him? The last competent mayor of New York City?) proved the importance of having the police enforce the law. He knew that when you allow the law to be broken and when the public sees uniformed law enforcement officers ignoring petty violations of the law, respect for the law collapses and you have a rise in petty crime. With the rise in petty crime the true criminals, emboldened by police inaction, come out of the woodwork and you have a corresponding rise in serious crime. When he took office New York's crime rate was high as a result of years of liberal mayors "encouraging" police restraint so he ordered the police to get back in the game and attack the petty crime. The initial shock of receiving a citation for jaywalking or any of the other myriad small infractions hit the city hard and people were screaming about it being unfair and how the Mayor was creating a fascist state. But, lo and behold, the crime rate started dropping and New York became safer. Safer, that is, until emboldened by 8 years of liberal-progressive-socialist softness on international terrorism, Islamo-fascists seized control of passenger aircraft and turned them into weapons of mass destruction on 9/11.

The same rules apply to the Arizona law. It doesn't go beyond what Federal immigration law already requires. There are no "extras" required of legal residents or citizens. It only requires that if local officers, in the course of performing their regular duties, encounter someone who cannot identify themselves properly then they will ensure that the person is legally in the U.S. by contacting ICE. It's not onerous. It's not a seizure of individual freedom (if it was Obama would certainly support it!). It is what we should expect of our law enforcement officials as they perform their duties.

And for you liberals out there, if you're boycotting Arizona Ice Tea, I'm sure you feel very proud of yourself. Just be aware that it is, and always has been, a company that is headquartered in New York. The only thing that's from Arizona about it is the name. But, in your alternate intellectual universe I'm sure that's sufficient.

When Indignation Trumps Information

My recommended read of the day from George Will.  An excellent piece on illegal immigration and the inane comments made by those who object to Arizona's law.  The problem with the left is that they don't use reason in their arguments but emotion.

It is emotion, not reason, that is driving the illegal immigration argument in the United States today.  Spurred-on by the Left Wing Media, the left is demonstrating and making bold statements that are factually false in support of their contention that the status quo is good enough.  Of course the left sadly says that the crimes committed are terrible but driven by their need for a permanent underclass that can be exploited for labor and political gain, they do nothing to solve the problem.  Amnesty is not a solution but that's what they have in mind.

There can be no amnesty if we are to solve the problem.  Amnesty will only exacerbate the problem.
