Those Troublesome Jews

Charles Krauthammer is always erudite and is one of those we can depend upon to inject analytical common-sense into any discussion.  The current situation with Israel is no exception.

The clear antipathy towards Israel by the Obama Regime is troubling and provides a green light for Islamo-fascists who deny Israel's right to exist.  There is ample reason to believe that the provocations Israel is now facing would not be happening were the American position stronger and more supportive of Israel.  Having shown weakness, however, we now face a situation where the only true functioning democracy, other than the fledgling semi-functioning democracy established in Iraq as a result of the Bush Administration, is seriously threatened.  Iran threatens the existence of Israel while developing nuclear weapons and the U.N., ever the slavish lapdog of feral regimes around the world, condemns Israel's right to defend itself and enforce a blockade against a hostile regime entrenched in the Gaza Strip.  In a nutshell, the Regimes policy of placing Israel at a disadvantage is setting the stage for another Middle East War.

It's unfortunate that the Obama Regime can't recognize that as long as Hamas and Hezbollah are allowed to operate with impunity backed by their terrorist state sponsors and U.N. enablers there will be no peace in the Middle East.

The "international waters" argument is again being trotted out as a reason that Israel was wrong. The naive will accept that as fact and the knowledgeable will shake their heads at the inanity of the argument. No nation is required to wait for the internationally recognized 12-mile limit in the enforcement of an announced blockade and to do so would be stupid. So let us discard the "international waters" red herring and move-on to the crux of the argument.

The motive behind the Gaza Flotilla was not to deliver needed humanitarian supplies but to create a political incident. That much is clear because if they were truly humanitarian in their goal they would have headed directly for Israel where they could have docked and had their cargo off-loaded and inspected after which it, all of it, would have been trucked to the Gaza Strip where it would be turned over to U.N. Agencies for distribution. That's a problem for those who wish to smuggle weapons and arms into Gaza. They absolutely need to be able to dock directly in Gaza so they can unload without outsiders looking over their shoulders for that is the only way they can arm militants to keep the Intfada going. Terrorists were on board the boats to achieve that aim and they attacked the soldiers who were boarding in hopes of provoking the traditional, and exploitable, "tragedy" for political purposes. Actually, the only tragedy in the entire incident is the killing of truth by the Western media which immediately condemned the wrong side. Instead of championing the militants who wish only to destroy Israel they should have blamed the terrorists who put the flotilla out to sea and planned to create an incident. The blood is on the hands of the Turks and Yemeni Islamic terrorists who tried to run the blockade.

And some of it should rightfully splatter on the shoes of Obama for having given the "go signal" for renewed attacks on Israel with his idiotic Middle East policy and boost to anti-Semitism.

Give Me Liberty Or...

The above picture depicts "The Shot Heard Round the World" at the Battle of Lexington and Concord.  The British Army marched to seize the arms of Americans from the armories in those towns and were met by the American Militia:  Citizens who took up arms and stood together.  That the militia was defeated was immaterial for they delayed the British long enough for the arms in the armories to be evacuated and thus saved from seizure.  And the shots that were fired on Lexington Green were the first shots of the Revolution.  Americans successfully defeated this attempt to seize their arms but now we face the question:  Will we allow our government to surrender our right to keep and bear arms to a world body?

Chuck Norris is never afraid of stating his opinion.  (Actually, my oldest son is fond of posting things on his Facebook profile like, "Chuck Norris tugs on Superman's cape just for fun.")  Norris weighs in strongly on this issue and in his eyes the Obama Regime will willingly surrender American rights as it furthers their goal of disarming America.  In doing so he may have uncovered Obama's out if and when it happens for he will baldly say, "It is not my doing that you must surrender your personal weapons but the U.N. Treaty, which is for the betterment of the whole world, requires it and as the United States signed it we must comply."

When it comes to the issue of the 2nd Amendment, Norris is correct in questioning Obama's stance on the Bill of Rights.  We know that he said pooh-poohed the idea that he would ever support a government gun-grab, but he also said that he absolutely would never raise taxes on the middle class.  When you look at it that way, there is ample cause for reasonable men and women to be concerned.  We must ensure that we replace the liberal-progressive-socialist Democrats and RINOs in Congress this fall with Conservative candidates who will represent the will of the people if we are to protect our remaining freedoms and begin to reclaim those that have been stolen by the Regime thus far. Remember, he may get to sign the treaty but if he can't get the Senate to consent, then it won't be worth the paper on which it is printed.

I leave you with a quote from a Scottish patriot, Andrew Fletcher, who in 1698 stated, "Arms are the only true badge of liberty.  The possession of arms is the distinction of a free man from a slave."

This is unbelievable but par for the course for the U.N.  And clearly the Obama Regime was either asleep at the wheel or totally out of touch with reality as we–the United States–did not bother to object to Iran being given a seat on the on the U.N. Commission on the Status of Women.  This is a failure of the nth magnitude.

To put it in perspective for President Obama:  Imagine that your daughters are in an exclusive school in Washington, DC.  (Yes, I know that takes no imagination.)  Then imagine that they have openings for teaching positions that must be filled.  Now imagine what it would be like if they were to get their candidates for the positions from the National Registered Sex Offenders List.

Now do you see the problem?
