I wonder why Conservatives would be against the new lightbulb law that outlaws incandescent light bulbs in the very near future?

Could it be that Conservatives object to a law that has moved all lightbulb production overseas thus closing American factories and eliminating American jobs?

Could it be that Conservatives, thinking the problem through, realize that the new law causes more environmental problems than it solves with its mandating of mercury-using CFL bulbs which cause a hazmat problem when they break?

Could it be that Conservatives believe that the federal government is over-reaching when it dictates the amount of water our toilets can use to flush, what kind of light we can use to read or light our bathrooms?

Could be.

Representative Fred Upton is clearly a Republican in Name Only and he just doesn't get it.  He needs to be replaced right along with the rest of the Progressive Liberals in 2012.  Don't forget his name and donate to his opponent before they actually do create a "Green Police."

The professor in this story is eminently qualified to make a scholarly judgement on the "Global Warming" issue that is basic common sense to most thinking people.  Unfortunately 99% of the "environmentalists" and 100% of the Democrat party either have no common sense or are unable to use it because of the rose colored glasses that they wear every day.  Global Warming, or "Global Climate Change"–the new favorite term–is a fraud and the end game of those who promote it is money.  Your money.  If they can get the legislation passed those in power–all liberal Democrats–and those promoting the scheme–AlGore,et al.–stand to make billions.

I've nothing against capitalism but this is more like legalized theft.

The Obama Regime is using the EPA to declare war on American energy production. If Obama is able to make this stick then he will easily oversee his dream: The collapse of the American economy. This will allow him to make the fundamental change in America that he promised. I can hardly wait for November. And once we regain control of the Congress, defunding the EPA must be a priority if we are to put America's engine back on line. The EPA is the reason that the world's largest oil skimmer is not working on the Gulf right now. It is clear that the EPA's goals are not furthering the best interests of America. Its goals clearly are more in line with the environmental activists who envision a future where mankind travels via mind power and can float gently through the air going from place to place using only the sun's light for energy. In other words, the EPA's goals are fairy tale fiction used to cover-up a blatant power grab by the federal government. Their stated purpose is to make it too difficult and expensive for any company to refine oil or produce energy from coal. That is Obama's goal. We must vote in November to stop him.

The Neo-Lib Democrats are fond of talking about "America's addiction to oil" and have begun shifting the blame for the oil spill to the American people. They want us to feel guilty about the oil spill so we will acquiesce to their Cap & Tax/Climate Control program like good little slaves. They want us to accept the punishment for our "addiction" in terms of higher taxes, higher energy costs, a lower standard of living and increased control of our daily lives by the Federal Government. That's what they want and that's the purpose of that phrase.

I believe that the blame for BP blowout in the Gulf, insofar as the actual blowout is concerned, has yet to be determined. We do not know, but do suspect, that BP's standards were too low. We do not know if a supplier gave them a substandard part but that could have happened. We do not know if it was something that was caused purely by the depths at which they were trying to drill–although this is clearly not the real issue as Obama approved a $2 billion loan to Petrobras (think major Soros investment) for a well that is more than 3 times deeper off the coast of Brazil. No, the blame for the accident regardless of technical cause, lies directly and solely with environmentalist idiots who have pushed oil drilling out of areas where it can be done more safely and with less risk to the environment. The blame for the blowout lies with those who have a vision of a world where people just float through the air through the power of their brain and energy is garnered only from the sun. The blame for the blowout lies with Neo-Lib Democrat politicians, supported by some RINOs of course, who use fairy-tale environmentalists with visions of doom to advance their own political agenda of total government control by the ruling political class over a permanent underclass. That's where the blame lies! It lies with people like Al "the Overheated Poodle" Gore, John "I served in Vietnam" Kerry, Nancy "the Nanny" Pelosi, Harry "Screw the Country" Reid and Barry "I Will be King" Obama. It lies with those who see the control of the energy industry as a way to wealth and, above all, total political power.

It is not America's addiction to oil that is the problem. It is the Neo-Lib Left's addiction to power that is the danger. "America's addiction to oil" is a lie. It is nothing more that a focus-group-chosen phrase that the Obama Regime believes can be used to make Americans feel guilty enough to accept their draconian energy plan. Nothing more. Nothing less. It is part of their talking points and you can expect it to be trotted out almost daily if they see it working. And if it doesn't work or starts to grow thin on the ears of We the People, then they will come up with a new slogan or phrase, designed and chosen by another focus group, to make us willingly bow our heads and accept slavery.

As I said above, not me.

Satire of their Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) theory is one pinprick that the liberal-progressive-socialists behind Cap & Trade just can't handle.  Like their spiritual head, AlGore, they prefer to speak only to adoring audiences made up of airheads who already believe in the AGW fairy tale.

Dr. Phil Jones, already a public figure, albeit one with exceedingly thin skin, has threatened to sue.  I hope he does as it would be wonderful to force him to expose his methods in open court but my guess is that he will huff and puff and then back down because the sunlight of truth is poison to their theory.

After all, it's not really about the climate at all but about money and power.  As estimates of the Reverend AlGore's take is in the neighborhood of $1 billion, you can bet that there will be pressure on Jones to drop the idea of a lawsuit.  There's too much money riding on the outcome of a case involving a specious definition of "settled science" not to mention the power that Obama hopes to accrue to the Federal Government through Cap & Trade legislation.

Common sense plus science is always an intriguing combination. The point of the linked article is simple: the climate models use by the Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) fanatics were false and incapable of accurately predicting climate change despite the use of computer systems many times more powerful than those needed to take man to the moon and return. And common sense says that if they were false they were done that way purposely to achieve results "proving" that AGW or Climate Change was real to benefit the "scientists" personal ideals and beliefs rather than true science.

Our problem is that there are those, like AlGore, who looked at those AGW results and instead of shaking their heads in wonderment at the folly saw ways to make billions of dollars through schemes like Cap and Trade. As a result we have an Environmental Protection Agency that has ruled CO2 to be an environmentally harmful gas–another disturbing lack of common sense–and is poised to enact regulations that will destroy America's ability to compete among industrialized nations. All done with the dream of creating our own Pandora; but what will be realized will be more like that which came from Pandora's box than the fertile, intelligent jungle of Cameron's 3D movie.

(AlGore's dream, to be accurate, is not creating a Pandora but displacing Bill Gates on some sort of list. That, however, is another story.)

Given the history of the EPA and its' current politicization under the Obama Administration, I think there is a very good case for stripping the EPA of about 90% of its' budget and 90% of its' regulatory power.  It is now known by everyone but the most ardent worshippers of the Church of Global Warming under Pastor AlGore that Anthropogenic Global Warming is a complete fraud and hoax.  That the EPA is still pursuing the control of carbon dioxide can only mean one of two things:  1. The level of EPA employee intelligence has sunk to the point where they would be defeated in the first round of "Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader"; or, 2.  They are staffed and led by environmental political activists who look on Earth Liberation Front terrorists as patriots.

Either way the EPA, created to help the country, is now part of a cancer that threatens to harm the nation in the name of a mythical "greater good" that just doesn't exist.

It's time for the nation to harm the EPA through budget reductions and curtailment instead.

No Joke About Light Bulbs

Is dictating, on the basis of specious scientific claims, the type of lightbulb that you may use in your own home a governmental overreach?

Now add in the part about the problems you can encounter with the new, approved by the Federal Government light bulb which includes mercury.  What do you do if it breaks?  How will it be handled?  Will we have to call HAZMAT teams to clean the house of mercury spills?

The best thing to do is get the government out of our homes.  The ones who wrote this bill should be in padded rooms so they can't hurt themselves...or us.

I noted that one part of the Environmentalist Pledge includes the term "social justice." History teaches us that the same term was used by the Communists, by the fascists of Mussolini and by the National Socialist Party of Germany. (You do remember the National Socialists, don't you? They were commonly called Nazis.)

The use of "social justice" to justify the seizure and redistribution of power and wealth is a common thread connecting the three most totalitarian political movements of the 20th century. Unfortunately while it sounds so very fair, it is an essential part of a false manifesto whether in connection with a political or a social movement. It is essential precisely because it sounds so fair and reasonable yet it is used to justify anything that deviates from true justice: best exemplified by the blind handmaiden holding the scales upon which she weighs evidence without regard to social position, wealth, color or creed. Social justice takes all those into account and, ultimately, always rules in favor of the ruling elite.

That's what history teaches us. Pity our education system doesn't teach it fully and objectively.
