Charles Krauthammer is always erudite and is one of those we can depend upon to inject analytical common-sense into any discussion. The current situation with Israel is no exception.
The clear antipathy towards Israel by the Obama Regime is troubling and provides a green light for Islamo-fascists who deny Israel's right to exist. There is ample reason to believe that the provocations Israel is now facing would not be happening were the American position stronger and more supportive of Israel. Having shown weakness, however, we now face a situation where the only true functioning democracy, other than the fledgling semi-functioning democracy established in Iraq as a result of the Bush Administration, is seriously threatened. Iran threatens the existence of Israel while developing nuclear weapons and the U.N., ever the slavish lapdog of feral regimes around the world, condemns Israel's right to defend itself and enforce a blockade against a hostile regime entrenched in the Gaza Strip. In a nutshell, the Regimes policy of placing Israel at a disadvantage is setting the stage for another Middle East War.
It's unfortunate that the Obama Regime can't recognize that as long as Hamas and Hezbollah are allowed to operate with impunity backed by their terrorist state sponsors and U.N. enablers there will be no peace in the Middle East.
