Gates: 2011 troop pullout unconditional
I take solace in only one thing from the President's speech last night: He did give the on-the-ground commander most of the troops that he asked for. But then he told the enemy, "But don't worry. If you hold out for 18 months we'll bring them home and you can claim victory." And he did that for the basest of reasons: He wants his liberal base to support his reelection campaign in 2012 and his base wants America out of Afghanistan. That he sets the stage for failure matters not to him because it is all politics and nothing but politics in his mind. He cares not for the people of Afghanistan nor does he care for the military lives that he intends to squander for his political ends.
President Obama loves only himself and considers himself to be the leader of the political elite. He knows that he goes against the will of the American people but that is of no import to him. He has his agenda: establishing central government hegemony over the lives of all Americans in all areas. If he could throw the Constitution out the window there is no doubt that he would do so for he has historically vocalized his dissatisfaction with that document. He feels it limits the federal government too much and is a document that says what the government can't do rather than a document of what the government must do.
He is so wrapped-up in his own Marxist background that he fails to realize that the Constitution telling the government what it can't do is precisely the point. That is what has made America great and our decline, if any, is directly related to the ways in which politicians and judges have sought with some success to modify it from its' original intent. Liberal-progressive-socialists actually hate the Constitution for its' limits on the power of government for those limits fly in the face of their ruling elite mentality. They want a European-style soft socialism that limits the freedoms of the people so that the central government tells them what they should drive, how they should live, what they should eat, what they may do, and when they should die.
So while President Obama made a basically good announcement and did the right thing, albeit extremely slowly (Hillary was so right with the 3:00 AM telephone call comment), he only did it right up to a point. His announcement of a set pull-out date gives the enemy a target--a goal if you will--after which they can re-escalate the conflict once their main opponent, the United States, is gone. A stupid mistake on the President's part but one that was consciously made with the politics of the next election as the most important component. In the President's mind, troop's lives and victory on the battlefield are not as important as that election.
We shouldn't be surprised at his lack of leadership ability. He was never the chief executive of anything, probably including his own household, in his life. He was only a community organizer with close ties to groups like ACORN and people like Bill Ayers, the Reverend Wright and Tony Rezko. Because the majority of the people "felt good" about voting for him, the majority of our future is now in doubt.
I, for one, can hardly wait for the next election cycle in 2010 and eagerly anticipate the 2012 elections.

How to Fix Congress
I received the following via email and I must admit, given my absolute dissatisfaction with the way Congress has behaved for the last 50 years, I believe this has merit. My comments are in italics.
Congressional Reform Act of 2009 ( http://www.ustl.org/ )
1. Term Limits: 12 years only, one of the possible options below.
A. Two Six-year Senate terms
B. Six Two-year House terms
C. One Six-year Senate term and three Two-Year House terms
2. No Tenure / No Pension:
A congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.
3. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security:
All funds in the Congressional retirement fund moves to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, Congress participates with the American people.
You can bet that the Social Security System would be properly fixed and in a hurry if this came into being!
4. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan just as all Americans.
5. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.
6. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.
7. Congress must equally abide in all laws they impose on the American people.
Were you aware that Congress has routinely exempted itself from many of the laws that they pass and which we and American businesses and schools must obey? Well they have. Sound fair to you?
8. All contracts with past and present congressmen are void effective 1/1/10.
The American people did not make this contract with congressmen, congressmen made all these contracts for themselves.
Very good point this one. Congress made these contracts on their retirement, pay and medical benefits for themselves by themselves. The American people weren't asked to vote on these because they probably would have said 'NO!' to the Congressmen. It's time to end these one-sided 'contracts.'
Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work. AMEN!

Matthews Calls West Point, Site of Obama Speech 'The Enemy Camp,' 'Strange Venue'
Chris Matthews has always been suspect in my book but tonight he outdid himself.
You can say many things about West Point. As my commission in the Regular Army was from ROTC, I took the liberty of calling it "Hudson High" on many occasions. And we--meaning non-West Point officers--all referred to the West Point "Ring Knockers" with a certain derision. But one thing is very certain. We never, ever referred to it as an "enemy camp." To consider West Point as an "enemy camp" for a President demonstrates a monumental mental instability.
Where are Chris Matthews' keepers? Should he be let out alone? He views our military as the enemy of the president yet they are sworn to protect and defend the Constitution which places the President as their Commander-in-Chief. Matthews probably doesn't care that those young men and women are there to protect his rights under the Constitution and that without them he wouldn't have those rights for long. But why would any sane, thinking man say that President Obama was going into the "enemy camp" when he was going to West Point to make a speech?
Could it be that Matthews knows something about Obama that the rest of us don't know? Could it be that Matthews thinks that Obama plans to destroy the Constitution which would make him an enemy of the country? Or could it be that Matthews is merely an unthinking, liberal-progressive idiot who is overpaid to sit in front of TV cameras and pontificate about things of which he knows little or nothing at all.
I think the last one fits best. Don't you?

Fiscal Fraud from the Democrats
This well researched piece from the Heritage Foundation shows that the actual cost of Obamacare will be closer to $2.5 trillion rather than the $840 billion figure that the Democrats are throwing around. Even a Newsweek Sr. Editor says that the bill is "fiscal fraud."

Anthony Stevens-Arroyo is clearly, in my humble opinion, someone who has taken great pains to put his mind in some dark, dank place in order to protect it from any truth and light. To even hint that there is a similarity between the Ft. Hood Terrorist, Nidal Hasan, and both General George S. Patton and Sgt. Alvin York is a mental stretch beyond the capabilities of any thinking, intelligent person.

To believe that Global Warming or Climate Change--whatever you want to call it--is "settled science" is to be off in your own little world divorced from any form of reality. MIT's Richard Lindzen is an eminent climate scientist. He is, and has been, a skeptic but no one in the Main Stream Media has thought to ask him if Global Warming/Climate Change is "settled science." Or, if they did, they declined to print his answer as it was not the politically correct thing to do. After all, who should we believe: AlGore, who won a Nobel Prize and an Oscar--now THAT's great certification!--or Dr. Richard Lindzen, a climate scientist at--hohum--MIT? Hmmm...who should we believe?
I don't know about you but I wouldn't buy a used bicycle from AlGore. Nor do I buy his fiction because it's not about anthropogenic climate change but about control of people and money. And AlGore and the Democrats want both. That's what it's all about.
